Have a Frigidaire Gallery model #gltr1670aso. How do we get the drum apart? Our clothes are coming out of the wash with dark stains on them. Is it grease or scum buildup?

Fridigaire Front Load Washing Machine Model GLTF1670ASO.

Problem: During high speed spin cycle, machine shakes, rattles and almost rolls. Also produces a loud fast paced clanging noise as if solid parts are hitting each other during the cycle. Opened the top and observed the function during fast spin and cant determine problem from this view. Doesnt appear that any parts are broken or worn, but havent removed back panel. Also how do you check that shocks are ok, they appear to be.

hi i have an indesit WM12x and the rear bearings need replacing, how difficult is this part to replace / get at, I've found many sites offering the spare part is it just a case of swapping the old for the new?

I need to know how to replace the bearing as at the moment as soon as the spin cycle kicks in the machine sounds like it is grinding itself to bits and getting ready to launch into space.

Can you please tell me what type of washer it is on? I know this, on certian brands, like the Maytag Neptunes, are not removable, you have to replace the whole inner shell part, and is quite expensive and very time consuming (needing special tools, etc.). Let me know what type and model number, and can help you out a touch better. talk to you soon.

The frigidaire gallery has a sealed bearing in it and you have to replace the tub half there are no special tools needed just time. it would be best to take it to a repair shop yes its a little costly but it is worth the money. it takes about 1 1/2 hours to fix it with parts on hand

How to remove and replace rear bearings and rotor on 2005 chevy silverado 2500 hd 4x4

The rear axle has drum brakes, so a drum, rather than a rotor to remove. Not sure if this is different on the SS model, but I don't think so.
The drum has two threaded holes which can be used to work the drum free.
I've had good luck just using a deadblow hammer and alternating sides until it's loose.
You may have to loosen the star adjuster, through the access hole on the back side if the shoes are too tight.
You need to remove the half shaft to replace the bearings, if required.
The front bearings are sold as part of a complete hub assembly, and aren't intended for re-packing or replacement by a home mechanic. You just remove and replace the entire hub.

My washing is getting bits of dirt on it. How do I clean out the machine?

Hello,

Below are tools and instruction need to solve the problem.

If your washing machine begins making strange noises such asrumbling, banging or screeching, it is time to troubleshoot the problem and fixthe machine. A noisy washing machine that's ignored can become expensive lateras the problem worsens and leads to damage of more expensive parts.
1 Inspect inside the basket for loose items. Objects such as coins, pens andpaperclips can fall out of pockets and become lodged in the basket. Run themachine again to test for any further noise.
2 Remove the top panel bysliding a flat-head screwdriver under the panel and releasing the clips. Slidethe top off of the machine and shine a flashlight into the sides of the basketto check for loose items. Remove any items and run the machine again.
3 Place a level on top of themachine and verify that it is completely level. If the machine is at alluneven, adjust the bottom feet by turning them to the right or left. On mostmachines a turn to the right will raise the machine and a turn to the left willlower it. If the machine is level or still making noise after adjustments, continue trouble shooting.
4 Replace the drum bearings.Review your owner's manual to locate the drum bearings. Unplug the machine andturn off the water supply. Remove all necessary panels with a screwdriver.Remove the driver belt and manually spin the drum. If it makes a rumblingnoise, then unscrew the drum bearings and replace them.
5 Replace the drive belt as well if it isworn, cracked or loose. This will prevent the need to re-open the washingmachine if the noise continues after replacing the drum bearings.
6 Re-assemble the machine and run it again. If it isstill making noise, contact a repairman for a consultation.
Thanks for using fixya.

LG WM2032 HW making noise, drum moves to much, belive the bearings are shot, but it also leaked the water out of the drum when is shut down. Can just the bearing going bad cause this are is there an...

You are probably correct. If the inner drum is loose and sloppy you probably have collapsed bearings and seals.
What can also happen is that the inner drum can make contact with the outer drum and wear through it. This could be the reason for the leak.
Unplug the machine at the wall. Remove the 2 screws under the rear of the top. 'Bump' the top to the rear to unclip it, and remove.
Remove the back panel to inspect the rear of the drum. This will expose the outer drum.
If the bearings and seals have failed, you have quite a large job ahead of you.
A holed tank is another level of expense. It may be cheaper to replace the machine...Get quotes.
Good luck....Nomess

Hi there i have an indesit washing machine and the drum has just stopped turning even by hand thanks craig

If you cannot turn the drum by hand, then there are a couple of possibilities that come to mind.
1- it is possible the drum bearings have siezed up,, remove lower rear panel of washer, and remove the belt the drum should be free to turn.
If it does not, then it is either the main bearings, or there is something fast between the inner and outer drum..
2- if the drum is free to turn, then it could be the moior bearings seized up.

The drum is very noisy when it turns and spins? There is no rattle but it sounds very raspy.

Sounds like the main drum bearings have failed.
Remove rear panel, and remove the drive belt.
From the front open the door ,and spin the drum by hand,
If it feels rough, or is rumbling at all, then the main drum bearings have failed.
If no obvious noise, then it could be the motor bearings that are noisy.
Hope this helps.

Aquarius 1100 wm63 very noisy spinning

Remove rear cover of washer.
Remove drive belt.
From inside the drum, spin the drum by hand, if it is noisy or feels rough, then main drum bearings have failed.
If no noise, then possibly motor bearings noisy.
Hope this helps Thankyou.

Trying to remove rear brake drum cover, have already adjusted star wheel and still won't remove. what am i doing wrong? for a 93 plymouth grand voyager

  1. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle on jackstands.
  2. Remove the wheels and tire assemblies.
  3. Remove the brake shoe adjusting slot cover from the rear of backing plate.
  4. Insert a thin tool through the adjusting slot and hold the adjusting lever away from the star wheel.
  5. Insert an adjusting tool and back off the star wheel by prying downward with the tool.
  6. Remove the center hub dust cover, nut, washer, brake drum, hub and wheel bearings.
To install:
  1. Inspect the brake lining and drum for wear.
  2. Inspect the wheel cylinder for leakage. Service as required.
  3. Remove, clean, inspect and repack the wheel bearings.
  4. Install the brake drum and tighten the hub nut to 20-25 ft. lbs. (27-34 Nm), then back off the nut until bearing pressure is released.
  5. Retighten the nut finger tight, align the cotter pin hole and install the cotter pin.
  6. Adjust the rear brakes as described in the beginning of this section.
