Maxtor 500g network drive

Hi i have a draytek router connected to a netgear pro switch which is connected to a safecom router (dhcp disabled) the network drive is connected to the safecom i can access the network drive fine via wireless but when i connect a computer via ethernet on the safecom i loose network connections the maxtor drive ethernet light keeps flashing and the safecom port lights keep blinking on and off if i remove the drive everything is fine and if i plug the drive back and remove the computer everything is fine. all ethernet cable are straight through and the netgear pro switch is auto sensing no crossover cables needed. its odd that thw wireless side works but not the wired side

hi the switch is auto sensing so no cross over cables are needed. but i have tried to conect the maxtor network drive directly to the draytek vigor 2800 router and although the router lights show the drive as being connected and the drive network light shows its connected on the router web page the dive is not listed as an attached client and i can't see it anywhere on the network. i think the firewall on the router must be stopping it i dont know how to open port 4301 on the routers web interface for local lan clients only as i dont want to open this port to the wan. the reson i think the firewall is blocking is that i can see all the other attached clients in the dhpc page with their mac addresses i have not enabled mac bind so that can't be the problem and i have tried a crossover cable still no drive yet it will work on the safecom router. i know the firewal on the draytek vigor 2800 is far more robust so it could be the cause of my problems any ideas

    thank you

Describe to me exactly how you are set-up. Include the IP addresses of each device and exactly what ports are being used on each device. Could like an IP mistake or in some cases an X-over cable is still required IF your switch does not have does not have a x-o button on it. But that depends how things are connected. These are the 2 most likely but need the above info to diagnose.

Do you have your users guide?

Read through the Firewall section, page 42 et. I would suggest disabling ALL filters and see if it works. If it does, enable one filter at a time until you hit the one that prevents network detention.

Let me know how it turns out or contact again if you don't understand something.

Also understand about autosense. It has to do with the bandwidth (what everyone calls speed). It will sense if its 10/100 connection or duplex mode (duplex mode is like a walkie talky, only one person can talk at a time -half duplex- or both can talk at once-full duplex)...

Anyone know the TV setting to switch to for viewing the netgear. My tv is a 65 inch panasonic. Thanks.

Jim,
It depends how you connected the Netgear Push2TV adapter to your TV. The best way is to connect using an HDMI cable. Pay careful attention to which HDMI input you use in the Panasonic TV. Then using the remote control for your TV switch to that input. Usually there is a button label "Input" or "source". Make sure the Netgear Push2TV adapter is turned on and when you are switching among the various inputs you will see the Welcome screen on one that corresponds to the Netgear Push2TV adapter.

Cannot get internet from router to

If I understand correctly you want to use the router as a gateway for an sat. receiver.
This Netgear router can be connected to devices that has TCP/IP connections (RJ45) ports or wireless IEEE 803.11 b/g, and that can get the IP address statically or from DHCP (router). Toshiba can do that and therefore it is working fine. If sat.receiver is not device that can behave as a PC (processor etc.) it can not get IP address and router can not "see" that device, therefore router can not let "something invisible" to connect to the internet.

Network cable is plunged but pc is not in network. It doesn't ping to another pc and in workgroup it shows only this pc

do you have a device on the network rounning as DHCP? if so,
go to
start>> run
type in "ipconfig/release"
when you get a prompt, type in "ipconfig/renew"
try to pin the other computer.
if not, then you need a router or modem can act as DHCP.

Centrios internet radio gives dhcp timeout

This is likely because out of the box, the firmware for this unit doesn't support WPA2 and even certain variants of WPA. I recommend: configure router for WEP or even open (i.e. unencrypted) connection, connect unit, go to setup/update firmware and let it update from network, power cycle, reconfigure your router for WPA or WPA2 security, attempt to reconnect unit to wifi. The updated firmware supports more formats and may allow your new router's config to work. You can also try doing the firmware update over the wired LAN port. Hope this helps.

Verizon Westell 327G wireless connection problem

the best thing to do so that you can isolate the problem is to connect your computer first to the gateway using the ethernet cable. make sure first that connectivity is not an issue if you're using a wired connection. once that's done, try accessing the modem, 192.168.1.1 is the address for your westell. all this is while you're connected with a cable. it will be very hard to fix this issue if you're not wired connected able. check the ip address of your computer. it should start with 192.168.1.xx, any other ip address it will mean your computer is not connected to the modem. if it's a 192 ip address, check the ip add in your modem, it be a routable ip add. for example if you're isp provider is verizon, more often the ip address should start with a 71 to a 74. most likely it will be because you can go online using a wired connection. next thing you should check is your wireless settings in your modem. find out your connection type with you isp. if you have a dhcp or open pppoe, turning off and turning on again your modem will fix things, almost always. if you have a pppoe connection, you have to make sure you have the right username and password. after this, check the properties of your wireless connection by clicking on properties in the wireless network icon, check if you need a WEP key if its secured. sometimes changes in the properties of your wireless network is the problem. if this still doesn't work, there might be a defect with your modem, better call tech support for that. you might need to replace the modem. if you're still under warranty do it now because if not, you will have to buy a new modem if it's found that you have a defective modem.

Laptop cant connect wirelessly

Hey Charlie, If you re-installed your operating system you will need to get the wireless modem driver from your dell disk. For some reason they have not included the drivers in the windows software. If you can't find it then you can go on to the Dell site(obviously on another computer) and enter your service tag and get your drivers that way.

I hope this helps
