If the cmos utility does not register a device, your windows won't
open the case, fix the working device carefully, go to the cmos utility to register the device and your windows will recognise it.

My mp3 player wont show up on my computer

rhondarobisc,

The first thing I would try is connecting it to another port, and then another computer. That will tell you if it's the PC or the MP3 player.

I have a Sony MP3 player that wasn't recognized until I upgraded my Media Player to version 11. Sounds like a similar issue. If it's recognized by another computer, and you have Windows, I would check for updates.

Computer wont recognize sansa clip mp3 player

Reformat clip with disk utility after looking at it like an external disk. Do this by turning it off. Puting it in lock mode. Hold down middle button as you plug it in.

I am mad at my Clip as it did the same thing.

My computer wont recognize my 30gb black zune

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged

Make sure the OS is compatible

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

My computer wont detect my player

This is actually not a solution, but to let you know that my Sansa E260 is acting exactly the same. I called Sansa's support and we did a lot of things including updating the firmware and going into the Recovery Mode. Unfortunately, Sansa could not figure out a solution to my problem (computer does not recognize it). I have loaded videos, taped voice reminders, loaded MP3s on to the MicroSD, set up my radio stations, etc. Everything works, except now, I can't seem to get my computers (yes, plural) recognize this device. Sansa said that I should return it to the store and get it replaced while it is under warranty. Thanks. Manny
