Hi my name is Mark Robinson and I have a Toshiba P-205 that will not recover from the recovery disk. It seems disk 2 is scratched and I have not been able to get anyone on the phone from Toshiba. I would like to buy a new recovery disk if anyone knows where I can find one. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your reply. I wish I knew more about computers, and I hope you understand why I need your help. I am a 24 hour caregiver and am not paid for my work, so any help I can get is appreciated very much. I think all I need is to find out how to contact Toshiba. Their 800 number and website is not user friendly if you know what I mean. I only need a new recovery disk and am willing to drive thousands of miles if that's what it takes to find one. So if you or anyone could please point me in the right direction I would be on my way to the first step in solving this problem with my laptop. It's not for me it's for my daughter Shelly. She has Williams Syndrome and is desperate for her laptop to be fixed with any kind of operating system.
Thanks,
Mark

"recovery disk creator" is a program that is used for creating recovery CDs for computer. One of the companies that make this program is Soft Thinks. You can try asking Toshiba for a new recovery disk. Their policy change from country to country, I do not know if it will came for free or you will have to purchase the recovery disks from Toshiba. In any case, if the files in the recovery partitions are still intact you should be able to do a complete system recovery at any time. In this case doing a complete system restore from your recovery partition will bring back the program. On many Toshiba laptops you have to press F11 when it prompts you at startup. Bear in mind that if you choose this solution, it will wipe your drive clean and re-install the OS.

hope this helps

Most Toshiba laptops with come with the factory software recovery image stored in a special hidden partition on the hard drive of the laptop. The factory software recovery image allows the user to recover the laptop to its factory fresh condition as when it was new.
This partition may also be referred to as the Partitioned Recovery Method or Free Recovery option.
IMPORTANT: The recovery process deletes information stored on the internal storage drive. Be sure to save your work to external media before executing the recovery.
  1. Make sure the computer is turned off ("Shut-down" from the Windows Start menu)
  2. Remove any peripherals such an external mouse, keyboard, monitor, USB flash drive etc.
  3. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and working.
  4. On machines with the F key numbers on the top edge of the keys and in White:
    • Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and power up the laptop.
    • Release the 0 (zero) key when the recovery warning screen appears.
On machines with the F key numbers on the bottom edge of the keys and in Gray:
    • Power up the laptop.
    • When the initial TOSHIBA screen displays, press the F12 key to enter the boot menu.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the HDD Recovery option and press the enter key to begin.
  5. The TOSHIBA recovery wizard warning screen appears stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and the original factory software image will be rewritten. If the recovery process offers a choice of Operating Systems, select the appropriate one for you.
  6. After you are sure you have everything you want from the laptop saved, click Yes.
  7. When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens, the default and recommended option is "Recovery of Factory Default Software".
  8. After selecting your desired recovery method, select Next.
  9. On the next screen you may have recovery method options. The default and recommended method is to Recover to Out of Box state.
  10. Select next to continue.
  11. Follow the on screen instructions as you navigate through the system recovery steps.
  12. The laptop will restart multiple times and install the needed components.

Restore factory settings

Many Toshiba laptops come with the factory software recovery image stored in a special (hidden) area on the hard disk. From this special hidden system recovery image, you can restore your computer to its factory-fresh software condition by following these steps:
  1. Make sure the computer is turned off ("Shut-down" from the Windows Start menu)
  2. Remove any peripherals such an external mouse, keyboard, monitor, USB flash drive etc.
  3. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and working.
  4. Press and hold down the 0 (zero) key on the keyboard while powering on the computer. Release it when the recovery warning screen appears.
  5. If the recovery process offers a choice of Operating Systems, select the appropriate one for you.
  6. A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten.
  7. Click Yes to continue.
  8. When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens select "Recovery of Factory Software" or the appropriate option for your needs.
  9. Continue to follow the directions restarting as necessary.
For laptops equipped with Windows 8, "Reset" returns your computer to its out-of-box, factory default conditions (removes your personal files and apps as well reset all settings to defaults) similar to a "System Recovery."
Please note that the process may vary slightly from machine to machine, that you may be asked to insert disks (multi-disk packages) and that the process may take one to two hours to complete. The recovery process will restart your computer several times.
As you use the recovery process you will have several options. One of these may be to create a custom size partition. Follow the directions on screen for this and other options as prompted. When in doubt, it's usually best to accept the default, or pre-selected option.

Lg smart recovery

Resizing the partitions has affected the partition size of the hidden recovery partition. This is why the recovery does not work.
You need to get a Recovery CD for your model LG laptop from the LG WEB site so you can restore your laptop.
You maybe able to download the recovery CD from this site : -

Is there an application on your system that lets you "burn" a set of CD/DVD "System Restore" disks?

Is there a "hidden" System Recovery partition on your disk-drive?

Can you contact Toshiba, and order a set of "System Restore" disks?

RecoveryDisk Creator does not offer any disk selections to create

To access the recovery partition you need to boot up on a DVD with a partition manager on it, then set the hidden partition as "ACTIVE" and un-Active, the existing partition, then remove DVD and reboot, then the laptop will boot from the recovery partition and should autorun start the recovery procedure.

I would like to restore my Toshiba Satellite laptop A85 to original state. Can I do this without the disks. I have backed up all of my information and want to start over.

It depends. Some laptop computers have a usually-hidden "recovery" partition on the disk-drive.

Reboot the computer, and look for a "start recovery" option as the first page of text on the computer-screen. Press the specified key to access that "recovery" partition.

Or, some Toshiba computers have a utility to *CREATE* a set of system-recovery CDs, by burning the necessary files onto CD/DVD-recordable disks. Run that utility.
