Activesync connection problems

Dear Fixya,
I have just bought an Ipaq RX1950 off e-bay.Unit is in excellent condition.Only problem is i cannot sync the unit to any pc.The unit seems to be trying to communicate and goes on and off intermittantly with the screen blinking all the time it also seems to try to connect via a lan connection on the pc.I am running windows XP and active sync 4.5 with microsoft outlook 2003.The ipaq os is windows mobile 5.I have tried two sync cables, hard reset and reinstalling office 2003 and activesync. My previous unit ipaq 2210 syncs with no problems. Please can you help?
Regards
Steve

    Dear Nitronike,

My Ipaq 2210 works on windows mobile 2003.

The problem does seem to be a USB issue, apart from the fact that the RX1950 seems to want to connect to a new network adapter then flicks in and out within seconds, with the ipaq screen also flickering.

My pc is running on XP Pro service pack 2 with a P4 3gig cpu

    regards

This is a HUGE problem with the newer versions of ActiveSync.

Most problems are USB port related.

What version OS is on the Ipaq 2210?

What is the PC make / model? (there may be a USB driver for your particular model available).

I have several HX4700's that I have to sync with various PC's due to this USB issue, which can be REAL pain.

Ipaq 4700 active sync problems

i can try to help you , first are you using xp or vista ? and which version of active sync ? i found that after upgrading to active sync v4.5 my ipaq 4700 refused to sync , i have xp home , so by trial and error i learned several things , i tryed my usb cable in every usb slot i had , only to find some usb ports are more friendly to certain devices , for a lack of better terms , i deleted all partnerships in active sync , found that i needed to make sure active sync is not running on ipaq , go to settings / memory / running programs on the ipaq , stop all running programs , turn the ipaq off , then on the pc made sure firewall not locked , plug usb cable into pc , i leave mine in a port permanently , plug into the ipaq , it automatically turns the ipaq on , then i see 2 icons in pc system subtray start blinking , at that point i know sync is going to work , then active sync icon starts turning , lit up in green , and asks do you want to create a partnership , yes , follow prompts , and thats what has been working for me , now if i was to put the usb cable into a different port , no doubt it would give me grief , and the same thing with my phone and active sync , make sure active sync is not running on the device , sometimes i have to reset the unit , ipaq or phone , make sure unit is turned off them make the connection , give it a try .

IPAQ 1950 suddenly will not connect to PC to allow sync

Same problem, on four computers with two iPAQ 1950's. I installed ActiveSync 4.5, and all works fine now. This link will get you to AS 4.5:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-register.mspx

This SHOULD work for all PDAs, but I have only used it for the 1950.
