Connect to your router via a network cable and type http:\\\192.168.1.1 in the address bar of explorer, log into the router, name: admin password: either 0000 or 1234.

Goto Wireless, the security and look for WEP key or WPA key.

It usually (if autgenerated) it would be some thing like o3fg5772ai82nn4

You could also check to see if the key is located under the router on a sticker or something...

To locate your WEP key, login to your router on it's web page. Inside there, goto the wireless security area. Inside here should be the details regarding your WEP key, strength, and more.

I have this router but i want to know hoe to secure my internet connection

By default, the firewall on it should block all incoming connections from the WAN or internet network port (good thing). Make sure you do two things : 1. Change the default password on the router, and 2. secure your wireless using WPA2 for authentication and AES or TKIP for encryption. Also, rename your SSID to something that doesn't give away that fact that your router is a buffalo. I'm paranoid, so I donot broadcast my SSID...if you are too, then this is a good option.

I have a Belkin play N 600 Router, my newer Toshiba, and my Apple, and a Dell can connect to this unit, however our HP Windows XP will not connect to this unit. I have tried to follow the direction given...

Your other computers must be connecting to the Belkin using WEP encryption if the Belkin does not support WPA encryption.
Therefore you need to configure the wireless card in the HP with the Belkin's WEP encryption key.

Once you change the encryption setting in the router you also need to change the wireless encryption settings in the wireless card on your laptop with the same router encryption setting so the laptop can communicate with the router wirelessly.

Everytime i try to log on using my belkin g router it ask me for a wep code

The WEP code is an encryption code that protects your wireless router from unauthorized access. The wireless card in your computer/laptop needs to be configured with the router's encryption settings before the computer/laptop can access the router.
