If your Xbox 360 will not play your games this is because of the sensors on the back of the drive overheating it is not normally the laser.

Luckily you can fix this yourself and get back to your games and to do this you need the proven Xbox 360 Repair guide.

Or you can send it in and they will fix it for you the repair will take about 4 weeks.

SOURCE: My xbox 360 is not reading games

This is normal behavior for it not being able to read the disk. A very common reason of not being able to read the disk is a dirty lens.

Buy a cheap cd cleaner, looks like a cd with brushes on it.

OR

My preferred method is to use a can of compressed air and blow the dust off the lens while the tray is open and power unplugged.

Well does it have this open tray error like whenever it comes on coz my dog pulled mine off the side and now i come to think of it thats when the error started for me well anyway if it is the open tray error lots of advice can be found on the internet thats why ur here right but if it just wont do anthing not even read the disc for 2 seconds you could open it up check for cable loose or someing of course this would void your xbox contract and you wont be able to get it repaired your choice get it repaired and wait months for it to return or open it up and cross your fingers?(i dunno how to open it)

I put game disc into xbox it wont play but keeps telling me to open tray

its an error, it sounds silly but put the disk in and when it says reading hit the xbox on the vents by the harddrive. if this doesn't work try a few other games, once one works put the one you originally wanted to play back in.

Xbox 360 open tray message; not reading discs

If it won't play any games it might be the laser that reads the disk. I would suggest getting it checked out somewhere.

Games wont play. Problems with Disk player

If you don't have the tools to open your 360 go to best buy or an office supply store and get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the dvd drive. If that doesn't work then the lens needs to be cleaned with a q-tip and alcohol. This has worked for me on numerous occasions.
