If the ice slots inside the ice maker are empty try pouring tap water in the slots and allow the water to freeze. If after the water freezes the ice drops into the ice bucket and the ice maker does not refill this would indicate that the side of the=> W10408179 Water Inlet Valve is defective on the side that controls ice maker water supply. If the ice maker just sits there and does nothing this would point to a defective ice maker. Depending what is wrong with the ice maker will determine what parts are replaced. I you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.

One the ice maker shutoff is defective. REPAIR is to replace the ice maker.
Two (snow) is a loose door seal, Outside air entering the freezer.

The ice maker tells the water valve when to send the water on up. Replace the ice maker! goodluck!!!

Sounds like the icemaker thermostat is opening too soon which turns the heater off.  The easiest thing to do is replace the whole ice maker which I have seen pretty cheap on ebay.  If you want you can test these part with an ohm meter.  Check the heater for resistance.  If it is ok then replace the module and thermostat.
