On the FS-4000, this message can be cleared by releasing and pulling out the rear unit until it stops and making sure that the green pressure buttons on both ends of the fuser unit match. Both buttons depressed indicate envelope mode. Both released, indicate normal paper mode.
Hi there, not sure what model you have, but on most Kyocera it is as follows, on the keypad press 10871087, now press 251 and enter/start, set value to a "0" and press enter/start button, if it asks if you are sure then press yes and enter/start, maintenance counter will now be cleared.
1. Draw the rear unit.
2. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver to push the
fuser lock (gray colored) on the rear unit and
the fuser unit is separated from the rear unit
Do it both ends of the rear unit.
3. Check or replace the fuser unit and refit all
the removed parts.
Place the fuser unit on the rear unit (rails)
and push the fuser lock so that the fuser
lock catches the fuser unit.
Do it for the both ends of the fuser unit.
for kyocera 1820LA look if it's works: turn on your computer by opening the top door previously. you press the menu system. you fit in service configuration and enter. press the START and # then enter. done this in configuration service runs a new submenu called maintenance mode. until it happens you should try this. when you enter maintenance mode out and then back. browser to locate yourself U163 code. you give execute.
It sounds as if the printer is locked up waiting for the next cammand during a firmware update. I am assuming youe are not doing a firmware update from the DOS prompt of your computer; so disconnect your parellel cable and turn the printer off and back on; if you still have the error you will need to replace the control PCB.
if this is an fs3900 tray rerunning the developer thru the machine.
Do this by going into the menus..up and down untill you see others..than right arrow..now up and down untill you see service...right arrow..than up and down untill you see developer..once you see developer hit enter twice...power off than back on machine..it will than recoat the mag roller with toner...good luck
most likely the drum popped out.
open the left side cover and remove the waste toner bottle..seated just above the waste toner bottle..press on the drum unit that sits above it..you will here it pop back into place .. if you hear it snap back it simply power off than back on printer....
if the drum is seated correctly.. than you need to replace the drum unit
