I was connecting my laptop to my TV for a presentation, then I pressed the FN+F5 hot key. I got a BSOD that lasted half a second, so I couldn't see the error code. It automatically restarted, and before the boot screen, the screen was all black, except for a flashing line.
Can anyone help?
No, this not the first time I did this, my driver is alright, I can't do anything, but edit the bios and do scans. NO VIRUSES DETECTED.No, this not the first time I did this, my driver is alright, I can't do anything, but edit the bios and do scans. NO VIRUSES DETECTED.

Is this the first time you have attempted this before?
Try updating the driver for the video. Look at the laptop manufacture's website for the lastest drivers.
Attempt this again. Might even want to uninstall the driver and reinstall.

The quickest way to change the display output settings is to use the
display hot key (Fn + F5):
1 Press Fn and F5 simultaneously.
2 While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the setting
you want takes effect. Briefly pause each time you press the F5
key to allow time for the display to change.
This hot key cycles through the settings in the following order
(the last two options are available if an external monitor is
connected):
? Built-in display only
? Built-in display and external monitor (simultaneously)
? External monitor only
? Built-in display and TV (or other external video device)
? TV (or other external video device)
? External monitor and TV
? Built-in display and external monitor (extended mode)
? Built-in display and TV (extended mode)
? External monitor and TV (extended mode)
? Swap-Switch primary display between internal display
and external monitor when using extended desktop
The Dell Latitude D600 has a VGA out. If your TV has a VGA connector then you should be able to connect it to it. All you have to do is connect the cable, and press the hot key to enable VGA output. Usually its Fn+F5 or Fn+F7 for Dell laptops.
Fn + F5 is what changes external display mode on acer laptops. Press and hold Fn, then press and release F5 to change between three modes:
Laptop display only.
Both displays.
External display only.
OR....
You need to go into your display properties and extend your desktop onto the external monitor. If this doesn't solve it, let me know :)
Hello, When the hardware connection is made: S video in laptop port and S-video in TV there remain two things to do. 1. On the computer, extend your desktop to show on the TV. On my laptop I press Fn-F5, and an OSD appears. I can choose the output to the TV and the internal LCD by holding the Fn key while pressing the F5 key. Each time I press the F5 key the focus moves to another icon (TV only, Monitor only, LCD and monitor, etc.) Once you know how to externd the display or divert it to the external screen, you can take care of the TV. On the TV remote (the easiest way), there must be a key labeled AV, AUX, or some such thing. Once you press it, and OSD appears on the TV screen giving you several input options :TV, AV, S-Video, PC. Select S-Video. It will tell you no signal if you have not yet diverted screen output of laptop to it. Use the Fn-Fx key to send the signal to the TV. This may not be the way to configure the connection for your laptop-TV combination, but I am venturing it anyway in the hope that it will help you solve the problem.
However there are no better sources of information than your laptop manual, and the TV user guide.
On most laptops pressing the Fn key plus the F5 key (in your model laptop) several times will cause the video to switch to different options
In the various laptops I've used with data projectors it is the same.
If you plug in the data projector and power it up then the laptop then the Windows image will be on the data projector (provided the laptop's screen resolution matches the data projector).
To toggle between the data projector only, the LCD screen, then LCD screen plus data projector, and or back through this sequence, just press the Fn key and the F5 key to get the displays you want .
From user manual (page 68): Your computer comes with a built-in display panel, but you can also connect an external display device to an available video port, as follows: ❖ An external monitor or projector via the RGB (monitor) port ❖ A TV, VCR, or DVD recorder via the S-video (TV-out) port Before connecting an external monitor or video projector, configure your computer for the type of device you are connecting. To do this, refer to the documentation for your operating system and devices
So you have to use an RGB cable or a S-video cable : your cable should be plugged into 15 pin VGA port in your PC and plug it into a correspondent port in your TV. Try also S- video and select correponding input in your TV set (Both connection type DO NOT carry sound: use your audio connector from PC to TV audio input.) Configure your extended screen using your manual instruction: Once you have connected an external display device, you can choose to use the internal display only, the external device only, or both simultaneously. The quickest way to change the display output settings is to use the display hot key (Fn + F5): 1 Press Fn and F5 simultaneously. 2 While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the setting you want takes effect. Briefly pause each time you press the F5 key to allow time for the display to change. This hot key cycles through the settings in the following order: ❖ Built-in display only ❖ Built-in display and external monitor simultaneously ❖ External monitor only ❖ Built-in display and TV ❖ TV only
