Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I am doing a simple project and I think I have the wrong part

I am wanting to wire two non-powered circuits to receive output from a Ipod. I have wired one circuit to the 2 and 3 pins, and one to 4 and 5 pins of a radio shack part 274-246. I want the signals to go through the circuits when a plug is in. Is this wiring correct? and/or part correct?

It is not standard. I beleive the plug I am using, (diagrams) is one where it changes/opens the circuits when plugged in rather than closes?

What do you think the problem is as to why my ipod want load up,i keep getting the message ipod communication aborted.

bad receiver in the radio, or, the transmitter on the ipod is bad. try it on another bluetooth source to see if it maintains connection, if not, the ipod could be damaged or bad. If it works with another bluetooth source unit, then the radio has a bluetooth receiver issue.

Zone 2 audio output is for analog only? The only reason I bought this receiver was to be able to play my ipod on our outdoor speakers.

David is wrong. My Onkyo is the same way. The receiver will only provide a signal to zone 2 speaker outputs from analog sources. I assume this was because of concerns with digital rights management, which caused some odd decisions for a while by hardware manufacturers. Newer receivers should not have this problem.

I think i fried the power supply shorting against the chassis.. is it worth trying to fix it? touched bare speaker wire to chassis while it was on...

What leads you to think you fried the power supply in your unit? While touching the speaker wire to the chassis is never a good thing it should not have fried the power supply. Might have opened a fuse in the speaker circuit. Have you checked all the fuses yet? Try that first and get back to me and make sure the unit is unplugged before you open it up!!!

I have blown the protection circuit on my yamaha rx 600d amp anyone with a clue whats needed to fix?

Hi friend, when something goes wrong in the output of the amplifier the protection circuit take place to prevent further damage could cause by DC power such as speakers or other related circuits...I think in your situation either one or both output amp stage have blown, then the protection cct turned on (not blown protection circuit!?). If so you have to check all the output transistors for short cct, if shorted you must also check all the DC bias cct nearby such as small transistors,resistors...If you are not familar with amplifier it better to find a tech as all amplifiers need a very precide repair technic , If the DC BIAS were wrong , when you turn on the power it will blow straight away! All times and cost will be waisted!
GOOD LUCK!

I just bought a Kenwood KDC-X493 and installed it in my Alero. I hooked it up to an amp and a sub and it only works with the tuner and not and Ipod or an auxilary hookup or even a cd. what is wrong.

Hello jarhead455,

It sounds like the remote terminal on your sub amp is not properly connected. The KDC-X493 has a wire to turn on a remote amp (Blue/White) and a wire for a power antenna (Blue). If the blue wire is connected to the amp remote terminal, the amp will only turn on when the tuner source on the receiver is selected. If the correct wire is connected, the problem is most likely in the receiver.

If the receiver is at fault, not under warranty, and you still want to use it, you can connect any fused 12V+ to the amp remote terminal. A simple way is to jumper a short wire between the power and remote terminals. Wire the jumper through a SPST switch conveniently located so that you can turn it ON and OFF as desired.

Hope this helps.

Radio has sound but not the CD player or iPod

Your amp is not turning on - what you should do is connect the "blue/white - remote turn-on lead" to whatever wire you have the "blue - power antenna" output from the Alpine connected to now. That should solve your problem.
