Will not work with windows vista

Hi, mother boards were designed with compatibilities with o/s or supported by windows version. If you still have the manual when you bought your PC, you can find what operating system supports the chipsets of your motherboard from lan card to sound card. If your lan card or video card is not supported with vista O/S then you can find the driver needed for it by browsing thru the internet, say if you have asus mother board, check the asus site at URL, http://www.asus.com, at asus web page you will find categories of menu, and a search box will be there and just input *********** board model say PJ41GT driver for XP. the search engine will provide you the right driver for downloading.

I have a burnt out fan chip and was told that I need to replace my mother board - it is an asus a8n-e where can I buy one

There is a problem with the Southbridge chipset. The nForce4 chipset over heats.
Asus has not made a better cooler for the nForce4 Southbridge chipset.
(It does not cool the chipset as it should).
You will have the same trouble with a new A8N-E MB.
Sooner or later if you do not change the chipset cooler with a stronger fan/heatsink assembly like any of the ones listed on the next link, the chipset will burn up.

Check your power supply. A beep every 5 seconds or so generally indicates a problem with power supply voltages.

Bios update not recognizing my mother board.

to me it sounds like the bios chip could be toast but here are a few things to do first. double check the asus update double check you got the right one. it sounds to me also that your graphics card could be loose or dieing. but all in all change pc guys. Also if i new more about what you where running os wise i could help a little more. here is a link that should help you update the bios http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=A8N-E
