The file has been corrupted. One thing you can try is repairing the file with Word's built-in repair feature. Open MS Word, then select Open from the menu or the Open icon on the Quick Access Toolbar; then click on the filename of the 'bad' file, but don't open it yet, click rather on the 'down' arrow next to the word Open in your Open dialoge box (at the bottom right of the box, between the Open button and the Cancel button, actually a part of the Open button). It will offer you the 'Open and Repair' option. If this fixes your file, you're good-to-go; if not, you may have to revert to an older version of your file, if one is available.

Hope this will FixYa!!!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Excel Corruption files

Without seeing the file, it is difficult to diagnose what is going on, but I will offer some ideas.

What version of Excel are you using? Are you using Excel 2003? Was the file you are trying to open created in Excel 2007 or Excel 2010. If so, it might be using the new format and therefore will not open in Excel 2003 and older.

It is possible the Excel file is data that was imported from a source in which Excel cannot import. Does the Excel spreadsheet contain any imported data?
Try to use: XLSX Viewer Tool here : http://www.xlsx.viewertool.com/
Those are the most likely causes of the corrupt data. Is every file you open in Excel corrupt, or just this one workbook? If it is just this one workbook, then, yes, it sounds like it is corrupted. If every file you open with Excel is corrupt, then your version of Excel could be corrupt, but that is unlikely.

Trying to import csv file.

Try opening the csv file in a text editor like Notepad++ and see if there are any special characters present in the file that might normally be invisible. There is a setting to see special characters (View > Show Symbol > Show all characters).

It looks like you might have additional carriage return or linefeed characters. You could try exporting your records again and see if the csv's match.

The office 2003 should prompt you to download a update to be able to read the files when you attempt to open one.

Here is the update/pack

Cannot open excel file

if you saved the file with any of these characters (!@#$%^&*()+=) in the file name, Excel will not recognize the name
you will have to rename the file
right click on the icon for the file and rename it with .xl as the extension, you will then be able to open it

It sounds like your computer shut down while the file was open, and the software saved it by default. If this is what happened, then you would get the "text recovery" message when you opened the software again, after the computer re-booted. Have you tried opening the file using the link within the "text recovery" message?
