The ink absorber box is fed up with waist (cleaning) ink. You need a new ink absorber box which can be bought from a service püartner near your home (see www.brother.com and click your country)

(Ther error displayed in Norwegian is: "skanning umulig" on my MFC-620CN ). After passing more than 6400 copies this printer is programmed to display this error message as the ink absorber box might be full. If you think it might not be quite full yet, you can simple change the PURGE COUNT from 6400+ to zero by following the steps in the service manual above. Then it will work as normal again. You can get the service manual your self free at http://pcmediks.blogspot.no/2010/09/brother-dcp-110c-mfc620cn-mfc210c.html

My mfc210c displays an unable to clean message, what do i do

Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41,49 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 48 - defective print head cable or circuit board. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:
Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the annoying cannot clean message.

Still not printing - HELP!

Not sure whether this applies to your exact siuation but may be worth a try:
Brother MFCs self clean excessively and when they've done a set number of self-cleans, they refuse to print and give an error message which leads you (unsuccessfully) to the Troubleshooting section.

There is a work around - you can reset the self-clean counter - but this carries a small risk the waste ink from cleaning that is normally stored insde the machine in a tank/sponge MAY leak out. I've done the work around on my Brother MFC and, so far, no leakage so if I were you I'd take a punt.
Just Google "brother mfc unable to clean" and somewhere in the results will be how to reset the counter - it's all done from the keyboard so no tools required.

Error messaage "unable to clean" on a MFC210c

There should be a number with the error, if it's 46, you need a new ink flushing box. You won't be able to fax until you clear the error.

Borther mfc210c black ink not printing even after cleaning

if your brother machine is within warranty, give the tech support a call. if not, replace the black cartridge with a new one. it may be a defective cartridge that you have or if you are using refilled cartridges, it will also give the same problem
