Question about Kenmore 24 in. 16032 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Cycle interrruption Recently, about 20 minutes into the wash cycle, the unit shuts down and the lights start blinking - usually "Pots & Pans" & "Quick Rinse" simultaneously. No other buttons respond and I cannot get it to finish the cycle. Only shutting down the unit at the fuse box eliminates the lights. I've checked for blockages and nothing found. Manual does not offer any help or suggestions. Any ideas??

Its normal for the drain pump to run for 5 to 15 seconds and then your washer should fill and you wash pump should run if your was pump is not running and just makes a humming sound then your start capacitor may need changing see the link below this is a simple task and not expensive. When ordering a new capacitor make sure it is the same size in ?F.

Hello Peter!

Your owners manual or a call to Viking should help you decode the blinking panel lights. They are not random and are a desperate cry for help from the machine.

It has been my experience (YMMV) that a common dishwasher problem in older machines is accumulated grunge (the technical term) in the water level sensor. In many cases the sensor lives in a plastic container on the side of the DW and although the designers try hard to avoid contamination, the container eventually loads up and intermittently jams the float.

Before I pulled the unit however, I'd check the bottom of the wash cabinet for contaminants. There may be an screen (under a cover plate) that has clogged.

Your situation sounds a bit different, since my Samsung did not pump out water, it just stopped and flashed a code, but who knows? Go for the low-hanging, common issues first.

All the best.

Won't wash dishes

Interrupt the power to the unit by flipping the appropriate breaker off in the house electrical panel for several minutes, then back on. If this doesn't help, then likely the control module is in trouble and needs to be replaced.

Miele g892 and just like everyone the red light comes on and dishwasher stops running> why cant you answer thic common problem>

The red light tell you there is a fault. You have to read the fault code and it will give you a general idea of the problem - to do this you have to enter the service mode of operation - close the door and turn the dishwasher on.
The Start/Stop light must be blinking. If the Start/Stop light is not blinking, press and hold
the Start/Stop button for at least 3 seconds to exit the cycle. The Start/Stop light should now be blinking.

Press and hold the Start/Stop button while turning the dishwasher on. Release the
Start/Stop button and immediately press it 2 more times. Flashing Intake/Drain and
Salt lamps and a lit Rinse lamp indicates successful accessing of services mode

The membrane or touch pad is bad. Most of the time you need to replace the whole control panel. Usually one of the buttons has failed causing this symptom.

My kenmore dishwasher, model 15822, just stopped working. The quick rinse light is blinking. The only other buttons that work are the pots & pans light which blinks when pushed, and the cancel button...

These are known to develop sticky switch contact pads. They stick in the contacted position and stifle the panel. Sometimes heat can be applied with a hair dryer to release them and make the unit function again. This is more than likely a temporary fix. New panels are available for about $165 to $200.

Blinking lights on Front Panel

I've finally tracked down the manual and it the fault code is as follows

"Indicates a fault in the heater or in the thermistor"

You can go into a fault tracing mode by pushing the "Rinse Hold" button five times within 15 seconds. The first, third, fifth and seventh lights will flash when in this mode and you can test the following parts by pressing the corresponding button. I'm going to try the heater test below and assume that if that works the fault must be with the Thermistor. The other tests could be useful for other faults.

User manual found here

Rinse Hold - tests detergent solenoid, detergent flaps open after about 60sec

Pots & Pans - tests Rinse Aid Solenoid, rinse aid will flow down door

Normal Wash - tests water inlet valve, water can be heard entering

Light Wash - tests ventilator solenoid, there will be a click followed by a rattling noise

Quick Wash - tests the heater, the element heats up, WARNING don’t touch element HOT

Temp - tests circulation pump, the pump starts

Dry - test outlet pump, the pump starts

Manual says to push 55 and 65 degree button to exit, I have no idea where those are so will probably just switch off at wall to reset.

Hope this helps someone. I rang ASKO and they said they didn’t know what the fault code meant so either they can’t read or their service sucks, probably a bit of both!

Kenmore Dishwasher #15769

Try this solution first
Push the Hi-temp and then push the Sani-rinse. Go back and forth multiple times on these two buttons. I found that after a handfull of pushes that a "1" came up on the display. I continued to keep rotating the two buttons and then a "2" came up on the display and the dishwater started it's "drain" phase. I then hit cancel to clear and then I selected the cycle I wanted. The washer started up just as normal at this point.
