Search for *.WAV files stored at your hard drive, took me a minute to figure out.

My *.WAV files recorded with Olympus VN-3100PC were stored by Digital Wave Player to "c:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\<My documents>\Digital Wave Player\Message\FolderA\ folder

1. yes, you can transfer your file into your pc from your VR

3. The cable will be required to perform any type of file transfer from your VR onto your pc

Transfer digital recording to computer to make CD

As there is no USB port on this IC Recorder, you can connect the Headphone OUT of the IC Recorder to the LINE IN of the Computer. Then, use any Sound Recorder Software to capture the files. You can also use the Sound Recorder Software preinstalled in the Computer. After transferring the recordings to the Computer, you can use any CD Burning Software to burn the files to a CD.

Transfering a stored PC recording

The recordings simply reside on your pc, but not in the "Digital Wave Player" software. The software is merely there to let you play the recordings, probably because they are not in a native Windows format.

If the recordings are "Wave, .wav" files as suggested by the software, then simply locate the files you want to put on disc... I am guessing you want to burn on cd.

Then, use a burning program such as Nero to add these files and burn to disc.

If you don't have Nero, then you would need to figure out what type of burning software your machine has installed and go from there.

I am trying to transfer files from my Hotmail account to Olympus

If they are files that someone has emailed to you, they need to first be saved in your C drive somewhere and then you can import them to the DSS software to be able to play them. They cannot be imported directly as an email attachment.

Can transfer but cannot burn

Not so much as a solution as a reason why it won't work. The Olympus web site FAQs says that you can't transfer onto an audio CD because the 4-bit depth used to expand the recorder memory can't be converted to a format that is compatible with audio CDs.

I'd be very pleased to find someone who's found a way round this as I brought this recorder to record my study notes, put them onto CD and play them to myself in the car, walking the dog, during lunchbreak etc.

The model which I have has a built-in file that downloads to your PC that installs a program for converting your .voc files into either WAV or EXE. The program can be copied and shared as there is no registration, however it would appear designed to work specifically with this particular device.

I have a mac and I don't believe it's compatible.. am I right, or just screwing something up?

Seems the VN-960PC lives up to the "PC" part in that it is not compatible with the OS X operating system on the Mac. The last driver update was for Vista and I have not heard of anyone having success with using it on a Mac.
Sorry this isn't solving your problem. Guess the only option is to offload the files onto a PC and transfer your files on a flash drive.
