Singer futura 920 sewing machine

Machine was working fine. replaced a snapped motor belt and a broken shaft washer and reassembled machine. Sews fine with a medium thread, but not with a finer one. Upper thread is forming long loops on the underside while the bobbin thread lays flat. What did I miss?

I have a similar problem. I'm using a New Home machine. In the middle of a project, without changing fabric, needle or thread type, the machine lost it's tension. I mean, the threads on top and bottom are loose. When I tried to change the upper tension, nothing changed no matter what setting I put it on. I've taking the top off to get a better look and I'm wondering if the spring is old or something?

I have this machine for more than 30 yrs-- when this happens, the top thread is not pulled through the little disks correctly when you go up before getting to the arm. Here is a threading diagram

This problem is related to the tension of the threads, try adjusting the upper thread tension to see if it improves.

First, look for a replacement bobbin case for your machine. And while you doing that, also look for a beading foot.

Try some of the online sewing vendors:

Singer SEQS 6000 Futura Quartet Par

Finding a beading foot make be difficult, but you may be able to find a snap-on adapter and a snap-on beading foot for your machine.

Machine sews 5 stitches stops, sews another 5 stitches, stops?

What happens when it stops? Do you get an error message? Does it say that it's out of thread? Are you doing embroidery, or sewing at the time?

check to make sure that the machine is plugged in to outlet correctly
and also plugged into the machine correctly
make sure the foot pedal is also plugged into the machine correctly
could also be a problem with the motherboard

It is a singer quantum futura ce 200 sewing and embroidery machine .the machine sews but incomplete, skipping and missing stiches. does not always bring up bottom thread . grrrrr---help, i want to sew

Sewing machine skips stitches
1.needle inserted incorrectly--flat side of the needle faces the shaft
round needle--groove of needle faces away from the shaft
2.Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle. Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine.
If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft
Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go.
3.possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace
4.blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle
5.needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw
6.incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches
7.wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem--some can't--
8.size of needle & thread not compatible--
Using the wrong type needle can cause problems,,
A needle to fine for heavy fabric can bend or break when it hit's the fabric
And a too large needle can make puncture holes in the fabric and pull unevenly while stitching

Mine was doing the same thing. I took it to an authorized Singer repair shop, and they said the timing needed adjusted. It was only $45 to repair.

Replace a motor belt for sewing machine

The top tension is dependent not just on the tension dial, but also on the little disks that you go through to thread the machine. If it is not threaded correctly, you will get bunching underneath. Sometimes I just have to rethread the machine-- when you get to the disks- hold the thread taut and push it through the disks before going up to the arm part. Here is a threading picture I found- but it doesn't point out the disks too much. Once the machine is stitching nicely, then the tension dial can be used to flatten out the stitches.
