The method of removing the back of a watch varies from make to make. Often the question is how can I get it back on!

Unless the watch has an obvious battery cover (a small round cap which can be screwed off), it is much safer to take it to a watch shop to replace it for you.

They have all the tools, a stock of batteries and will will do the job a few minutes.

I don't know how to set the date on my bertolucci watch

Having trouble pulling out the crown, or nob? You might have a screw down crown so you need to unscrew it going downward before you even can pull out the crown to set.pull the crown out once for the date and twice to set the time.

Where i can replace the battery of my Casio watch,.Casio hunting timer AMW 705

The battery of my Casio 1846 W-71 was dead, so I tried to replace the battery by myself.

First, you need to get a hand on a CR2016 3-volts battery. It could cost you 5$ or 10$, but I got 5 of them for 1.50$ at an electronics discount store...

Get a precision screwdriver, remove the 4 screws. Be careful when you remove the cover, there's a tiny spring. Remember where it is, then remove it. Remove the watch from the shell.

Using a flat mini screwdriver, remove the cover that holds the battery. You'll need to unclip all 4 corners. There are centers to unclip too, not sure if there was 2 or 4 of them.

Remove the battery, place the new one. Clip the battery cover back, and put the watch back in the shell.

I closed the cover. The watch was showing time, buttons were working, but no sound at all. Looked on the Internet, and read that you need to short circuit it.

Look carefully, there is a label "AC" near a small hole. (Inside the hole you'll see the gray spike of a welding). Just touch something metal inside the hole (e.g. the welding spike) and then touch the positive (top) side of the battery. Put the cover back in place, press a button and listen for the beep.

Screw the cover back in place.

I have a stainless steel Bertolucci watch,it stopped working does it have a battery? ,plus i would like to sell it,i live in the st louis area

If you go to their web site and look at their "collection", you should be able to find your watch and be able to find out what you what to know.

Web site http://www.bertolucci-watches.com/en/collections.php

If your watch says "quartz" on the front, then it is battery driven, if it says "automatic" then it is a spring driven self winding type (which stops when not being used).

Remove the back, to replace the battery

You need either a caseback knife or caseback wrench depending on whether it's a screwdown or snap-on back. If it's a snap-on, you'll also need a caseback presser to put it back on. Using the wrong tools can easily cause damage to your watch. If the watch is "water-resistant" be sure to replace the gasket as well or it will leak - you cannot reuse the gasket. You best bet to do this without having to buy tools, find the correct battery and gasket and risking scratching the watch is to let a watch shop or jeweler do it. Most places will charge about $8 to replace the battery and gasket. Sears sometimes charges only $4 so either way it's worth it. Even though I have the tools myself I usually bring my watches in and have it done since I'd have to go out and buy the battery & gasket anyway.

I wish to replace the battery myself, how do I do this?

Polar tells its customers to send watches to them for battery replacement. But the Polar Fitwatch is too old (may have been introduced in 1997?), and they no longer support it. So the only solution is to replace the battery some other way.

For most people I'd say go to a store that sells watches, they'll replace the battery for a fee.

For those who are handy, you can replace it yourself. I did mine yesterday.

The battery is a common type - CR 2032.

You'll need a small screwdriver, philips type, I think. Maybe around 00, or thereabouts. And you need tweezers, preferably with a rubberized grip.

There are four screws holding the back plate. Remove three, and loosen the fourth. Slide the back plate aside.

I unscrewed the screws, then used the tweezers to take them out. They're a bit small for your fingers to get a good grip on them.

The battery is held by a plastic holder that's held by 4 screws. These are (to my eyes) slightly smaller than the ones holding the back plate, so please keep those separate - and keep track of all the screws.

Remove the plastic holder, and make sure you keep track of the spring that's between the holder and the back plate. It'll likely fall out when you turn the holder over.

The holder keeps the battery with a small prong, but it's easy to slide out the battery. Replace the battery, getting the orientation right, making sure you don't touch either side with your bare fingers. This part is easier than it sounds.

Replace the holder, and of course you noted beforehand what the orientation was, so you get it in the same position.

Use the tweezers to drop each screw into its hole, then screw it in.

By this time, the watch will probably start beeping when you tighten one of the screws, because you depress one of the buttons on the front.

Put the spring back in its hole, then slide the backplate back into place, and drop the screws in place with tweezers and tighten one by one.

You should be able to find a manual (which doesn't cover battery replacement procedure) by searching for polar fitwatch manual.

Battery replacement

You can do it yourself. Unscrew watch caseback and undo the contact on top of battery. Read the writings on battery and buy exactly the same one. Do not mind manufacturers (Casio, Maxell, e.t.c.), just make sure the numbers are the same.
Some watch casebacks can be opened only if the watch band is removed, so, remove it if needed, just don't forget to memorize where every part and screw was fitted. Memorize how the battery is fitted and do not put the new one the other way around as this can damage your watch.
Actually there is nothing difficult - only you have to put everything back exactly the same way as it was. If your watch will be left without battery for more than 3 minutes, you will need to reset your watch after replacing a new battery, but it's easy if you've got users manual.
Good luck.

Do not forget to rate, please.
