blue hue on bottom of screen

We have the same problem. A blue hue extending the bottom of the screen and now is working its way up the middle .

The blue looks like liquid spreading across the screen. Now there are "ghosts" within the blue i.e. lettering for a prgm description etc. Sony says they are covering replacement for some TV's - but there hasn't been enough complaints for my model - Grand Wega KDF-E50A10. Nothing like standing behind your product! We purchased in Feb 2006 - have replaced the bulb (expensive) twice and have had the software fix for some other problem. Can't get past low level customer service to escalate this unacceptable problem. Any suggestions?

Same problem with the blue hue at the bottom except that it's on a KDF-55XS955. Calling Sony tomorrow.

call SONY at 800 222 SONY and explain it to them ....

I called! It is called the "blue dot" or "star pattern" or "optical block."

Sony covers this problem. They are sending someone out. When the service rep confirms that it is the "optical block" problem

I have a Grand WEGA 60 inch KDF-60WF655. Bought it July 2005 problem came up January 2008.

I was having the same problem with the blue hue problem in the lower left corner growing across the lower portion of the screen and moving upwards into the screen on a Sony KDF-42WE655 that I purchased in November of 2004. I came across this website while surfing the net for "SONY KDF-42WE655". I called Sony at 800 222 SONY and like everyone else describes here - they lined me up with a service technician who ordered and replaced the optical block this week - for FREE, no charge for parts or labor. It solved the problem. THANKS to FIXYA and to SONY!!

I have a KDF-60XS955 with the blue hue problem in the lower left corner growing across the lower portion of the screen. We got the TV in summer of 2005 and the blue hue just started this March of 08. I called the Sony number above and described the issue. They said it may be the optical block before I told them I read about it here. They set me up with a repair service that will fix it for free if thats what is wrong with it. I'll get back in here when it is repaired and report how it went.

I called 800-222-Sony. I described my problem to the rep (Optical block or Star pattern). They directed me to a local service center. All I had to do was call the service center & give them my info. When the part comes in they are going to come to my house and install it for free!!! Now that is service!!! Sony really stepped it up on this issue. They have definitely gained my respect. You don't need to be in warranty or even have a receipt. They will fix it for free regardless. Thanks for the info guys.
