I have a husqvarna Viking designer 1, that I am trying to learn how to use and on the bottom of the screen it is in French, how do I change it back to English?

Are the tabs at the top of the screen in English or French? According to the manual, you should be able to change the language from the Set tab. If these are in French, that will be the second tab from the right. Touch the More (Plus) button, on the left above the Fabric information, to scroll through the Set menu screens. You need the line for Language (Langue, which is on the second screen, just above the More and OK buttons. Press the Next button to the right of this line to scroll through the available languages. Press the OK button (on the right next to the More button) to save the selection.

The manual is available here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/SiteFiles/ClientSite/9b/9bcc04bf-d0a8-42ba-b7a0-5734832311ff.pdf . See page 30 for what the menus and tabs look like in English. All of the items will stay in the same place even when they are displayed in French. I hope this helps.

(I'm not completely certain of the French that will be on each line. The Language line might read as la langue. Set could be parametres or reglage.)

I bought an empisal overlocker and sewing machine more than two years ago at Game Centution. I used the sewing machine a few times. I tried to use the overlocker but without success and just put it away...

Hi Bonita
Can you use the sewing machine? Does it work? I am also thinking of buying one but not sure if I should. They're on sale now at Makro for R899 =- what did you pay for yours?

Well i have my brother nx 400 over 6 years and keep looking for the holes to put my oil, but cant find them, i just read to never put oil in this machine is that true? even after so many years ????

Hi. Yes, it's true. Brother does have self-oiling sewing machines (I have a Brother CX-8060 that's also self-oiling.)

Hope this helps!

Can't read my disk that I read in the sewing machine. Want to combine words and designs to put on my machine and embroider it.

What software are you using? You need to read the disk back to your PC in Disk Manager (VIP, 3D or 4D software) or use the input/output of Embird, if that is what you have. The disks that are used in the Designer 1 are not able to be read directly by a PC in Windows Explorer because they are in sewing machine language, not PC language. You can combine designs and lettering on the Designer 1 machine, without having to use PC software at all. Let me know if you need help with this.

Probel with Embroidery disc

I am pretty sure you can download Disk 100 free from the Husqvarna Viking website. This has all the embroideries that came free with the machine, plus the alphabets (I think!). You can download this direct to your PC or to a set of floppies, depending on what your Designer needs and what support software you have (or have not) got. If you have no Husqvarna software at all, your PC will not be able to read the floppy. It is in .shv format which PCs are unable to read, being an embroidery machine language only.
If you are trying to open the faulty disk in your Disk Manager software, I always found it worked better if I didn't put the disk in the floppy drive of the computer until after I had already opened Disk Manager.
Hope some of the above is useful to you.
