Maytag Neptune out of balance on spin cycle

Front load washer on spin cycle out of balance and therefore vibrates alot and makes noise. However, all vibration is internal meaning the unit is level and solid but acts as a bearing is going out or whatever controls the balance on the spin cycle is faulty. I have not taken apart yet to have a look but do you have any ideas before I dive in?

-thanks

I finally got to it and confirmed all is okay on your suggestion. Now after taking apart I found the problem in inside the drum housing which is enclosed. It is not obvious and in low spin speeds not noticable but at higher RPM's it begins to get out of balance and has a thumping noise with vibration. Do you have any suggestions? I am concerned the repair will now be labor intensive and curious if any special tools are needed to disassemble the drum unit?

I believe the problem has to do with the strut design. They are either too small or at improper angle. Maytag will not even acknowledge the possibility.

I had mine repaired this morning and thought the cost was really high, $429.00! He said he had to put in a new board in the back.

Oh boy, I have the same problem. We purchased this model in Sept. 2005. The authorized repair man said $800 to repair this thing. Can you believe it - $800????? So, I called Maytag, and there is currently no warranty for this repair, and no pending class action lawsuit on this model (only on the front loading Neptune). Maytag offered me a 15% discount towards another Maytag purchase. As if!!

Perhaps we should start a similar class action claim on this model. The participants in that claim at least received some compensation.

Won't spin on small loads, out of balance all the time ....have to wring the clothes by hand then add a towel then it will spin. Just a really poor design that ties your clothes in a knot.

I have a maytag 3000. After years of drum bouncing during spin cycle, I discovered that it was "bio-mass" build up in the solid grey plastic baffles inside the drum, which then would not let water or what ever drain from them. Clean by removing top panel (3 screws top rear). then loosen flexible rubber hose from soap dispenser to plastic outer drum (on top of outer drum). Reach in with tooth brush and you will see clips from baffles. Turn drum with one hand and brush with other. I also filled washer with water and some bleach. It worked. Thank God because I was about to go postal. Jeff PS: will try a longer brush (? refrigerator brush?) to reach the back next week.

I have a Maytag Neptune 3000 WAH bought 12 years ago that willnot drain then will not spin dry. Service people are overmatched by this problem. Theuy replaced the control board (they always point to that) the door switch, inertia switch, timer, anmd main switch. I still have the same intermittent problem.

If the washer fails to drain properly it will have difficulty balancing. This causes the washer to walk across the floor. We noticed ours having a tough time starting into the spin cycle. There was noticable water remaining in the tub, visible at the very back. My wife found a quarter in the pump, about a 10 minute fix.

My new Maytag Bravos HE top load MVWX500XW vibrates during spin, is this normal?

from the way you describe the issue it sounds normal, all washers vibrate at least a little or alot (depending on the balance or unbalance of the load) if it is just vibrating and not making a grinding or scraping noise it is fine, if its vibrating too much for your like, try to rebalance your load.

Wash machine won't spin all the time and makes a loud banging noise.

Check to make sure that your clothes are not piled to one side causing the load to be off-balance. If that does'nt fix it then, It may be that your machine has a balance stabilizer on it that has worked its way loose or even off.

An extreme vibration in spin cycle. It makes the

Because front load washers are VERY HEAVY, they shake if you have a wooden floor. If your front loader sits on concrete and it still shakes, then you have to make sure all is balanced. If it still shakes, then inside the system there are shock absorbers that need to be checked.

MAYTAG LAT8506AAE WASHER - TERRIBLE NOISE/VIBRATION ON SPIN

Try this for re-setting the balancing mechanism:
With the washer empty, tip tip it forward so that it is just sitting on the front feet. Hold it there for a few seconds, then gently lower the back down. (Often there is a mechanism in the back feet that automatically levels it for you--if this doesn't work, check that the back feet are not damaged.)
