The first thing to check is the main power line connected to the dishwasher and look at the wires this is usually the first thing to short if something came came loose.

I would call or e-mail the manufacturer of the inverter. The dealer or dealers may know the issue but likely the manufacturer will be more help.
Some devices like an inverter will have a smell in the beginning, power supplies are like that. You said that the inverter didn't get hot but smell indicates something is hot.
Hi without actually pulling it out and checking somethings, if you dont see any melted plastic inside the cabinet, this could be a transformer going bad, they have a funny smell when they burn out and its only used during the microwave cycle, these are pretty expensive and involved to have replaced, your speedcook will still work like normal but eventually microwave setting will stop working if the transformer goes.
Firstly, you need to stop running your dryer before you do any further damage,
As you haven't specified your brand or model of dryer, I can only give general advice. It's likely that your thermostat has failed in the closed (on) position. The thermostat cuts power to the element when your dryer reaches the correct temperataure.
Most dryers also have a thermal fuse to cut all power to the dryer if they overheat. This functions as a backup safety device and this only usually trips when the thermostat fails. Your dryer is stopping because the thermal fuse is cutting power, but as you can smell burnt plastic, it's likely some damage is being done before the thermal fuse trips.
Stop using the dryer, and check/replace your thermostat.

I have a Pink Samsung ES55 and The first time I pressed the power button it turned on. However when i went to turn it on the second time by the power button it didnt work. I tried to charge it again and it didn't work by this time I thought I'd broken it or something but then i pressed the bottom play button in a square/box twice and it came on I was so seriously relived. :) hope I helped
when WAS the last time??? Spring? You probably have a gummed up carb if that is the case and you didnt use fuel stabilizer.
Does the gas smell old when you pull the cord?
You DO have spakt, right?
I suspect the fuel is **** - pour it out and put in fresh. You may get it to go. You might have success if you pour fresh fuel into the spark plug hole ... do this with extreme caution, BTW.
It sounds like you have a fault with the power port on the mainboard or
power board (quite a few gateways have a separate power board) , the
battery won't charge if this damaged or loose which would explain the
dead battery. The smell is probably caused by sparking on the loose
power port. I wouldn't try to power it on anymore as you may damage it
further. it is possible that the area around the power port is burntout
therefore rendering the powerboard or mainboard useless but they are
replaceable at a cost. If the laptop is still under warranty then you
will need to take it back to where you brought it.
You will need to take it to an engineer to have it assessed unless you are able to make the repair yourself. Good luck hope this helps.
Ok can you take the front panel of the washer off easily?
If you can look for the motor pump assembly. Start the washer with no load, turn the water level down to the small and fill with water when it goes into agitation does it make the noise? if not turn timer to spin and see if motor makes the noise.
One other thought, maybe the smell is coming from the dryer?
Let me know. I wont be on line again until Friday Sorry
Maybe you have a faulty Power Cord try replacing that first. Secondly check your powersupply's Fan if its turning. Lastly check your power button maybe its defective.
