Good Day:
The Canon OEM battery is a very good one and the instructions come with it, if that is where you brought it from. However, you can also purchase a "wet-cell 12.6volt, 7.2Amp Hour battery and buy the power recepticle from Radio Shack along with a short (6ft) section of 2 conductor wire and and the female spade lug connectors with any "Wal-Mart" variable voltage power adapter and make your self a battery source that lasts 14 times longer that the OEM Canon battery.

Does a thermostat have a battery? Mine says low battery

Hello, Nancy -

Programmable thermostats have batteries.

I hope I am correct in thinking you need to know what kind of battery you need for your thermostat and how to replace it. If so . . .

Do you have a set of printed instructions on using the thermostat tucked away somewhere? If so, go find it. The instructions should state the kind of replacement battery you need and how to go about replacing the battery/batteries.

If you add the maker of your thermostat by clicking or tapping on Comment and typing in the manufacturer name, I or someone else volunteering to answer for Fixya may be able to find the instructions for you.

You may find this YouTube video on replacing the batteries in a type of Honeywell programmable thermostat instructive:

Best wishes.

Dell inspiron 1525 - plugged in not charging shown on battery icon. Battery power light blinks 4 times amber then once blue.

The diagnostic procedures from the Dell User Guide are as follows:

Total Power Failure When Using a Battery
If an AC adapter is not connected to your computer, the computer's power source
is a battery. If the battery indicator flashes amber or is a steady amber, the
battery needs to be charged. If the battery is flashing green and amber, the
battery may be defective. To troubleshoot this problem, use the following
procedure.
1. Turn off the computer and peripherals, and disconnect them from AC power.
2. Reseat each installed battery by removing it and then replacing it.
3. Turn on the computer. Does the green power indicator light up?
Allow one minute for the computer to initialize its components before checking
for signs of power.
Yes. Continue to step 4.
No. Use the AC adapter to connect your computer to AC power. If the computer
operates normally when using AC power, go to step 7. If the computer does not
boot when using the AC adapter, see the previous subsection, "Total Power
Failure When Using the AC Adapter."
4. Does the battery indicator flash amber or show a a steady amber light?
Yes. The battery needs to be charged. Go step 5.
No. Go to step 7.
5. Connect the computer to AC power, and fully charge the battery.
For instructions, see the topic titled "Charging the Battery" in the online
System User's Guide.
6. As the battery charges, does the green battery indicator light up?
Yes. Go to step 9.
No. Go to step 7.
7. Is the battery indicator flashing green and amber?
Yes. Your computer may be in a hot environment. Charging the battery in this
condition may affect the life span of the battery. Continue to step 8.
No. The problem is resolved.
8. Disconnect the computer from AC power. Is the the battery indicator still
flashing amber?
Yes. You may have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
9. Remove the battery, and press its test button. Is the uppermost indicator in
the charge gauge of the battery flashing?
Yes. You have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
10. If a spare battery is available, fully charge it, and then install it in the
computer.
11. Turn on the computer. Is the power indicator off?
Yes. Your original battery is defective. Call Dell for a replacement. (See
Chapter 5, "Getting Help," for
instructions.)
No. Call Dell for technical assistance. (See Chapter 5, "Getting Help," for
instructions.)

Not starting has to be jumped but running fine once it is going

First try cleaning and tightening the battery terminals. If this doesn't work, your battery is low and needs to be charged. Reasons for a low battery are typically one of these 3:
1. alternator is failing .
2. battery is old and will not hold a charge
3. short in the car draining battery when car is not being used

check these as follows:
1. use a voltmeter to check voltage at battery with engine running. Should be at least 14 volts. If not, replace alternator. If you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and take it to a parts chain for testing.

2. charge battery with a 12 volt charger overnight and try starting in the morning. If this works, battery is probably OK, and problem is likely a short.

3. To check for short, please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5925550-dead_battery_troubleshooting . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Need an instruction manual for a Century 10 amp battery charger

Are you having this problem on a particular battery? Try using it on your car's battery with the headlights on. The headlights should brighten and the unit show 5 -10 amps charging.
A car battery can develop a problem where the battery post gets disconnected from the inside. This is common on batteries in storage or left on charge a long time or used in a car with a defective alternator. The battery is charged but it won't start a car. headlights connected look normal until you turn the key, then the headlights will just go out. This descibes a bad battery.

Problem: I need an instruction book to learn how to use the cell phone.

Most model numbers and serial numbers are inside of the phone behind the battery. Remove the battery or cover and then battery. It should be back there in small print.
