Question about Sony MHC-RG222 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Sony MHC-RG222 cd player broken

A loud noise comes from the cd player as if it's trying to spin too fast. The spinning is even present when on standby. Also it seems to have slowed the enitre system down, taking a while for commands from pressing buttons to be recognised.

It's not really a problem with the sound- it seems more mechanical. The noise is coming from the cd spinning machanism. Also the player doesn't actualy work- it just spins the cd without doing anything else!

It is not clear from your post that whether this is functioning perfectly other than the sound problem, if it doesn't, change the laser pick up.

Odd scratching or grinding noise

HI,

Squealing noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.
clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust accumulating, but its still worth the try. Also check on the small shafting that guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser eye then fails to read the next track.

These are the only possible home remedies if you still face the problem then you will have to get it repaired.

When on a fast spin it is extremely loud, too loud...

Water in bearings causes rust, and rust in bearings creates noise...This is the most likely reason for the noisy spin....Check for any slop in inner drum....Bearings and seals and likely the shaft probably need to be replaced....Quite a big and complex job....Good luck....Nomess

Sony 3 disc changer mhc-gx880 has broken belt. How to manually eject disc tray?

You have to open the unit with screws in the back and push it out by hand, there should be a series of gears that you have to spin for the tray to come out. You may be able to gently push it by hand to come out.

Loud Noise - Spin Cycle

If the washer is making a squealing noise, the problem is more likely to be the basket drive. If it is more like a rattling sound, the centerpost bearings are probably worn out. Open machine's rear panel and spin the basket manually by turning the drive pulley, to find out from where exactly the noise come from. Defective part should be replaced. Good luck !!
