DDR and DDR2 are both electrically, and physically incompatible, and so you cannot use DDR2 in this case.

So no, you cannot hurt your motherboard as you will not be able to fit this memory, as the 'slots', or keys, are in different places.

If you have a motherboard with only ddr1 support (speeds 266 to 400mhz) You cant put in a ddr2. It might just go BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP or it might harm the ddr2 memory I dont know I have never put wrong memory into a motherboard. :P Good luck thought!

Can i use DDR2 SODIMM 800MHz PC6400 in my laptop even though the one in it now is a DDR SODIMM PC3200 CL3?

pc3200 is original ddr- ram but pc6400 specifies to ddr2. The ram is not compatible. And the key slots on your mainboard will prevent installation.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot

So, yes, you can put two 400MHz modules in the slots.

Asus p5 vdc-x motherboard not recognizing ddr2

Ok i am just guessing here

maybe your motherboard does not support

ddr2 rams and hence it wont boot up as it does not detect any ram in the slots......

try to boot with one old and one new ram (ddr and ddr2) and post the result

are you sure whether the ddr2 ram is supported?

Can i install 1GB ddr2 on P4VMM2 Motherboard? i want to upgrade my pc; board is: can i P4VMM2 Motherboard; cani i use 1GB ddr2 on this and a 512 MB if vid.card? -jayvee_yao@yahoo.com

Hi,

Unfortunetly you cannot use ddr2 memory on this motherboard. The motherboard supports only PC2100/PC1600 DDR memory if you have version 8.1 of the motherboard. If you have v5.0 of the motherboard than you can only use sdram or ddr 266Mhz RAM. The same goes for the video card. The p4vmm2 motherboard is a rather old motherboard so I don't think it will payoff to upgrade the computer. It will be probably the best if you buy another computer.

best regards

Shall i connect ddr2 ram in my mother bord?

That OLD motherboard ONLY supports basic DDR RAM; it does NOT work with DDR2 RAM; the board is actually designed to work with PC2100 (DDR 266) RAM, so you can NOT install DDR2 RAM in the RAM slots on that 'board...

Good luck; hope this information helps you

Can't Install RAM in DDR2 and DDR3 DIMM slots

You cannot use DDR and DDR2 ram at the same time, because its always been like that (ie, no SD and DDR, or SD and RIMM)

What you should do is switch to all DDR2 sticks.
