Question about Acer AL1716 17" LCD Monitor
As of the 13/2/08 my monitor now only displays in hues of purple/lylic and shades of green .
i have tried to change the colour settings within the monitor menu but to no effect ,have also tried to change colour settings through vista to no effect , also tried to change settings through ATI catalyse controle center ,again to no change.
i am wondering weather ther may be a fault with said monitor or a damaged cable??
system-- gateway E 4076 ,intel p4 3.00 ghz processor, ati x1650 pro graphics card pcie ,2 gig ram ,windows vista premium ..
Did anyone of u guys install a more powerful gpu on your board at anytime when that happened?? because im having the same problem...but im almost positive its because i recently upgraded from a geforce 7300 to an 8800gt oc and thats precisely when the purple hue flicker started...just a thought since like i said i have the same issue...buying a new monitor nutz to benq corp :)

I have an Acer AL1916 which I bought new in March 06. It became faulty when the colours changed. In addition the whole image shifted to the left a few inches (now and again). Like yourselves I thought it was the cable / PC but it was the same on a seperate unit. Concluded faulty - so back to Acer it went. They repaired it and it came back with the colours back as they should.
However, 10 months on, it's done it again. I turned it on Monday and the screens gone back to a horrible purple hue.
So back to Acer it goes again. I'm not impressed at all. Temped to fight and try and get my money back. Clearly these screens have a reoccuring fault and it sounds like you guys have the same fault.

Yes, I'd say your cable is faulty. If it is the type you can disconnect, then change it. If it is moulded to the monitor then you might have a problem. check all of the pins on the connector to make sure they are in tact and not bent.
