Hello I have an Electrolux refrigerator, Details: MOD: ER2944B PROD NO 924628038 The fridge part is not cooling , everything else i.e. freezer seems ok. What can I check?

  • Anonymous Jan 25, 2010

    Hello,

Thank you for the quick response.
I have checked the perimeter of the freezer and have no switch.

In the meantime I have fully defrosted the freezer and today again freezer is fine but fridge is still not working.

    Hope this helps?
How much would I have to pay for a new thermostat and could I fit it myself?

    Many thanks

Hi, even though the freezer is working, you need to check the evaporator fan in the freezer to make sure it is running to move the air to the lower part of the box. If you open the door on freezer, make sure it doesn't have a switch around the perimeter that will shut the fan off. Some do and some will not. Check this and get back to me. You may have a faulty thermostat control. Get back to me and let me know about the fan motor. I will wait for you're response.

Hi, The thermostat I would say around $30 or so and yes this is something you can do. Just make sure you draw a diagram on the wires you remove. Get the model and serial numbers off the unit so you can get the right one. One more question, Did you check to see if the small evaporator fan was running in the back of the freezer? You can't see it but should be able to hear it running. If it is not on then the fan motor is the problem and not the control thermostat. Remember I asked you to check this motor and to make sure there was no switch around the perimeter and you say there is not? The fan should be on when the door is open.
    Sincerely,

Hi, Yes, let me know if the fan runs at all this is important. And if isnot running you can also remove this you're self to replace. Make sure you kill the power first! Remove any plastic covers to excess it. Should have only 3 wires, 2 Black and 1 Ground, or 1 blk, and 1 wht, and ground.

Hi, thank you for the awesome rating, this was very kind of you. I still haven't heard back from you on the comments I have posted? I hope it is working ok at this time, or you were able to find that the evaporator fan was bad and you replaced it. Please let me know where you stand at this time.
    Sincerely,
    Shastalaker7

Electrolux ETE 4200 SB-R freeze fridge. freezer cold, but fridge wont cool. back of the unit sealed with only compressor (?) visible at bottom. Cant check fans, coils etc. Cheers Gary

That is not a good model number. Is it a top mount freezer or side by side? Generally in electrolux the freezer is what cooks the fridge, if fridge is not cooling, it could be several things causing it.
1. Damper not opening
2. Damper has ice build up
3. The return has ice build up
4. The freezer evap assembly is not defrosting to allow air flow.
5. The evap fan is not turning.

My electrolux is not keepin the temp cool enough

Has this ALWAYS been a problem, or just recently?
You need to give more details about the fault.

Is the fridge/freezer located near to a radiaitor, for example?

For info, the inside temp of your fridge should be around 4C and the freezer should be around -21C.

Fridge freezer

there is a fan inside freezer behind back panel. if pipework behind panel is covered with ice, it will prevent air circulation and the fridge is affected first

take back panel off and check for ice build-up and that the fan is working
