Problem with Sony RCD-W1 CD recorder (by 2 users)

I place master into Deck A, CD-R music blank into Deck B, put synchro on high, but NO AUDIO comes up in window, so I can't make copies of my master
The record deck displays "no disc" when any disc is inserted, whether it is a blank recordable disc or a pre-recorded one. I have tried the CLEAR button to try to reset it but it doesn't work.

GuruAre you copying a disc you have previously recorded? SCMS will prevent this.
'No disc'on the CDR deck usually means the laser is faulty.Can you hear it spin the disc? When you open the tray has the disc been rotated? The sony's laser is usually reliable. Sony US may have a fixed price repair or you can have a look yourself. I have the service manual should you need it.
