Sony KP-61HS10 blinking codes

Recently, the picture on my Sony KP-HS10 started intermittently blacking out momentarily and then coming back on with no loss of sound. When this happens the timer/standby light begins to blink. It blinks 5 times and then pauses for approximately 3 seconds and then blinks again, 5 times. I have tried a hard reset and this last a little while, but then for no unknown reason it starts the same cycle of events. Has anyone got a clue?

FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about
30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with
the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C
board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking,
try turning up screen slightly.

From the Sony Customer Support web site:

The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.

Sony kp-61hs10 tv, has sound but picture goes black after 3 min.

I just had the same problem. If your lucky it might be a free 5 minute fix. The five light flashes mean impropper current. I took the front grill off, then behind that is another black cover, I took that off and noticed the circuit boards COVERED in dust. I then took an air can duster and blew off all the dust... works like new. No more flashes and in an out picture. The collection of dust was interfereing with the electrical current.

61'' SONY Rear Projection KP 61HS10 blinking

My Sony HiScan 61" intemittent black screen for couple of seconds. I opened the back and look at what is happening. All three blue, green and red projection lights go off for a second or two frequently.

Anyone know what is the fix.

The image leaves and the screen goes black.

Either the picture tubes are going, or they are dusty. Take apart the front grill and take off the black cut away behind the grill. Inspect the tubes and the circuit boards. If they are dusty blow them off with an air can duster. It might work and its free and takes 5 minutes.

Sony KP-61HS10 Rear projection TV blurry /shadows at first start

Sounds like the convergence ic's need to be replaced or resoldered. Sometimes it can be a microfuse if you are lucky. But my question is if you hit the focus button up front does it make it thru the auto convergence? Let me know. Have a good one.
