Hi, I have given you a guide of how I would approach the unit if you brought it into my repair shop

  1. first check that there are no short circuits in the speaker wiring. This will cause the unit to go to protect mode.
  2. check each speaker with an ohms meter to see that the speaker itself is not faulty
  3. if speakers and wiring appear to be ok, I would check the power supply internally for any blown fuses.
  4. inspect under good light the soldering about the output stages and re-float where required
  5. Check for a DC offset condition on the speaker output IC for both channels then replace the IC if DC offset is found.
Generally this is the approach to a problem such as you have. If you don't have experience doing this sort of repair, then taking it to a repair shop is the best bet. Get a fixed quote on the repair first. Good luck, hope you get it going. :)

regards
Graeme

Hi,

The circuit is blown a couple of the connectors crossed. It is going in protect mode to keep it from further damaging the internal electronics. Open it up and double check all connections. But if you don't have any idea how to check it then i suggest you to take it for a repair, the cost will be between $100-$150.

You have to get it serviced and replace whatever has blown up inside and after that you won't get the protected message again.

Goodluck..

JVC MX-GT88 sound system showing protected them shut off why

Chances are that something is blown in the power output stages and units shuts down to protect against further damage.

Repair or replace, which ever is cheaper!

Hello can u help me about my MHC-gzx55d sony hifi component, when you turn on the power, the screen display appear "PROTECT" what is the problem and what is the possible damage of my component. please help...

When it goes into protect mode it has been over loaded. Remove everything from the component and unplug the unit for a minute or two. plug it back in and see if it pops out of protect mode. If this does not work then you will need to do a factory reset or check the fuses on the inside of the unit.
