HOPEFULLY THIS DOES'NT SOUND LIKE TO DUMB OF A QUESTION, THIS MILLER THUNDERBOLT THAT I CAME ACROSS HAS A CUT POWER CORD. I HAVE A NEW PLUG FOR IT BUT I DONT KNOW WHICH WIRE GOES WHERE. THE THREE SPOTS ARE MARKED X Y AND THE THIRD IS BLANK?
The blank should be the grouDING conductor (green) and they may have a green screw to further indicate it.
Since the welder runs on 220, either of the hot wires can go to either of the other terminals (X or Y).. Those wires might be black, red, blue, brown.
There is a slight chance it would be white even though it is hot on the portable cord because some portable cord is used that way.
VERIFY the receptacle you connect to is wired correctely before connecting your unit to it.
