Question about IBM Wheelwriter 30 Typewriter
I've just changed my ribbon cartridge. It is in place, but the ribbon is not moving so as I am typing, the letters keep striking over each other.
First off make sure the ribbon turns freely.Take off the ribbon and turn the ribbon wheel in the direction of the arrow and see if it turns smoothly. If it turns smoothly the ribbon motor is not moving or the gear is not moving. take off the ribbon and type. See if the black ribbon drive gear on the ribbon deck moves as you type. If not the motor is N.G. or the ribbon gear clutch spring is not grabbing the gear to turn it. Lawrence
