no i think it is installe right but i just did not push the right buttons to restart the water.

  • wizenbrown Feb 14, 2008

no it is not leaking. i replaced the water filter, i had to push the light and lock buttons on the door panel, hold down until the little lite on the water filter started blinkin red which meant water was not running thru i then changed the filter and i understood that the next step was to hold the light button down and water would start to flow again but it did not so i guess i misread instrutions because no water is flowing in door or ice maker it is a maytag

    Installing your new water filter:

    1. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise

    2. Pull the filter straight down and discard (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically)

    3. Push the new filter up into the fridge until it stops

    4. Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise

    5. Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one)

    Resetting your "change filter" light:

    • Press and hold the ice type and child lock buttons (at the same time) for 3 seconds - the light should turn green.

      • Note: If you hold these buttons for 5 seconds, you'll cancel the
reset process, and you'll have to do it again. If this happens, just
release the buttons and start over.

How to replace a water filter

Changing your water filter is very easy. All filters come with easy to install instructions.

Most filters are easily removed. Make a 1/4 turn the left to unlock the
filter and then pull it out of the housing. To replace, insert a fresh
filter from into the housing and turn the filter 1/4 of
    a turn to the right.

Filters located in the base grille of your refrigerator

These filters have a reusable knob. Hold the knob and make a 1/4 turn
to the left. Pull the old filter out. Replace the knob on the new
filter from Once the new filter is inserted, turn the
knob a 1/4 turn to the right to lock it into place.

    Filters with a push-button filter

This filter is located in the base grille. Press the large button
next to the filter. The filter will pop out so you can grasp it. Pull
the filter out and replace it with a new one from Push
the filter back in until it clicks. Remember to take the cap off of the
old filter and put it on the new replacement filter.

    Slide out filter.

The cartridge is located in the front of the refrigerator compartment.
Open the compartment and remove the filter. Replace with the new filter
from and slide the compartment back into place.

    Filters with housings

Some filters are located in a round plastic housing. You may need a
wrench if the filter was put in very tight. Once the housing is removed
replace the filter inside with a new one from and
reinsert the housing and new filter in your refrigerator.

**It is very important for you to flush a couple of gallons of water
through your new filter. Most refrigerator water filters are made of
carbon, and some carbon residue is present in the first gallon or two
of water. This will leave a bitter taste and residue in your water.**

    ok fine.. then

    >> when u pushed the dispensing button, but no water (or very little)
    would flow.
    >> Finally u just hold the button for a long time (3 - 5
minutes) and the dispenser will begin working properly.
    >>I'm guessing that
air must enter the system when the filter is changed and that this has
    to be purged.

Here's what I would tell you to try next. Take the filter out and don't close the
chamber that it goes into. Hold a pan or something similar by the
chamber. Now push the dispenser button. If water flows, there's some
type of obstruction in the filter itself. If there's no flow, either
the pump is defective or there's no water reaching the refrigerator. To
check the water supply, first find the shutoff valve in the tubing that
connects the refrigerator to a water pipe (these are often saddle-type
valves that have a nasty habit of getting plugged with minerals and
crud). Close the valve. Now disconnect the tubing at the refrigerator
and put a pan beneath it. Have a helper slowly open the shutoff valve
while you make sure that adequate water is reaching the refrigerator.

If so, that pretty much narrows the problem down to the pump.

    thanks you..

dont forget to rate the solutions..

    good luck

think the problem is lying else where.. not in the filter..

Replaced the water filter. the refrigerator is making ice but not dispensing water

Is there any packaging from the new water filter restricting the flow. Check for anything blocking the water flow near where you replace the filter and check for correct installation. If this problem was the reason you replace the filter check the switch that dispenses the water. Make sure it isn't "iced up".

Thru the door component stop working...what parts need replaced? going to take? lights come one but nothing works...water or ice.

It sounds like one of two things 1. your water filter is clogged or frozen, if you still have the bypass try that. if it works after that you just need a new filter, around $40 or 2. your waterline is frooze, try pulling out the crisper drawers anf heating the line with a hair dryer
Good luck

Jenn Air fridge water dispensor stopped working

Hi: You press the switch and it makes a faint humming noise. That tells me the switch on the front panel is ok. The switch for the ice and water is actually on the bottom of the ref. The internal system of the ref is not under city water pressure. Ice is made so that's ok. There is a solenoid where the water attaches to the fridge down below which can fail. Just for giggles try tapping the switch with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. To loosen any scale that might have built up. As I'm unemployed also I'm giving you that trick. Otherwise I would just say replace it. I hope this helps, Jeff

Whirlpool side by side, 7 years old. not making ice

try using a hair dryer to thaw out the trough and remove the ice. please note the ice will run all the way up into the tube where it comes thru the cabinet.
this may have occured from your recent filter change as a new filter introdues alot of air into the water system and will cause these tubes to freeze up. in the future right after you replace your filter be sure to run aout 1/2 to 1 gallon of water thru water dispenser to clear air out of system. thx peyton
