Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T20 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Cyber-shot T2 Hello This is probably a long shot but I have had my Sony cybershot T2 for about 1 month now and about 2 weeks ago it just died on me and it won't turn on. I didn't drop it, there is a not a single scratch on it, i have charged the battery 2 full but it just wont turn on. At the beginning it would flash as if it was turning on and then stop. Now it won't even do that. I don't know what to do as I loved that camera and it's very new. It worked perfectly before. If you could help me somehow that would be great Thanks Henrietta (henrietta@mercuryin.es)

I have a Sony DSC-T2 and it won't turn on. I have several pictures on the Camera that I want to extract prior to sending the camera in for service. They told me they will be formating the Hard Drive w/in the camera. When trying to turn the camera on, the green power light briefly flashes and thats it. Any idea how to extract the pictures? Please help- all my vacation pictures are in it :(

Hello Henrietta,

Your problem is exactly my T2's problem. I returned it to the vendor and I was informed that the board is damaged and possible reason is it was dropped. Just like you, I didn't drop my T2. I wish there will be a good samaritan who can suggest a fix for the camera is quite a lot of money and being able to just use it for a month is quite awful.

Hi-

I don't know if I can do much besides commiserate and tell you about this *completely* outlandish workaround I arrived at via trial-and-error for my DSC-T20 with a similar problem.

A little background: I've had my T-20 for about 8 months. About 4-ish months ago I started getting this 62:02 error message onscreen. Still get it all the time. And yes, I love(d) my camera, too.

The error darkens the edges of pix, disallows me from turning it off w/o popping the battery out, disallows me turning it back on (sometimes), and causes a steady degradation of focus/auto-focus over a matter of seconds.

When I could turn it on, sometimes the green pilot light would blink on, the screen would say "SONY", and then it would die before the cyber-shot logo popped up. For a time (while it worked) I found that if I kept the "take picture button" pressed down while it was booting-up, it would hiccup/blink off for a sec--then start up normally.
Of course, this workaround doesn't always work, as the camera won't even turn on at all to start it's boot. Workaround: I found that if I pressed the sliding cover quite hard (the auto-ON switch--which is how it seems yours works, too) , as I slid it down v e r y slowly (while continuing to exert pressure), the camera would turn on.

I hope that this is helpful, and if it's not, I suggest you goof around with yours to see if you can figure out some of your own ridiculous (and in a reasonable world: *totally* unnecessary) workarounds.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I want to view downloaded pictures from the internet in my DSC-T2 Sony Cybershot Digital Camera, How?

If you continue on this quest, you will be setting your camera up for future problems. This is supposed to be a one-way street...from camera to computer...not the other way around. Sure, it may work occasionally but your camera will become problematic eventually.

My sony cybershot T2 is no longer recognized by any computer I connect it to via USB. But when I connect my sister's camera (also a T2), it works fine? please help

You may have a bad USB in your camera connector in your camera. Any repair shop should be able to repair for less than $50.00. Also check that you do not have a bad cable. You may also want to try on a different computer than yours. if it works you may have a driver or USB conflict with your computer.

Can the sony cybershot lcd be replaced with that of the canon's lcd

I successfully replaced broken Sony Cybershot LCD screen myself. I purchased replacement screen on e-bay for less than $30, including shipping. Then I found a recording on how to replaced this screen on Youtube. In addition I recorded replacement with a camcorder to make sure that I put all parts back where they suppose to be. It was more than a year ago, and my camera works beautifully still.
