Below is the guide to the resetting of the cmos password. Below that is the link to the service and repair manual referred to in the reset guide.

1. Prepare the notebook for disassembly (refer to Section 5.3,
“Preparing the Notebook for Disassembly,” for more
information).
2. Remove the real time clock (RTC) battery (refer to
Section 5.15, “RTC Battery”).
3. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the notebook.
5. Connect AC power to the notebook. Do not reinsert any

Procedure for setting a passcode for laptop so that nobody can open it.

To prevent and secure anyone from accessing your laptop, you can place a Power On Password on your laptop. This Power On Password comes up as soon as you switch on your laptop and won't allow access any access unless the correct password is entered. There are no backdoor passwords to bypass the Power On password to get into your laptop.
You can also place a hard disk password on your laptop and this will prevent anyone from accessing the data on your hard disk, even if they install the hard disk into another computer. There are no backdoor password to bypass the hard disk password.
You may also enable a BIOS password to prevent anyone from changing your BIOS settings.
These passwords are configured in the laptop's BIOS under Security settings.
Once you create these passwords, I suggest you write down these passwords and place them in a safe place should you need need them.

Had a problem with Toshiba Satellite A205-S5800. Could not remember password, or the laptop created a new password after 3 tries at trying to remember. Ran recovery disc, and now the HDD password box...

Power the laptop off. Unplug it. Remove the battery. Turn it over. Open the bottom panels. Look for a small battery. Unplug this battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. RE-Assemble everything. Turn it back on - hopefully it has cleared the settings and you will be prompted to enter the BIOS.

How can i unlock poweron password for toshiba A300?

As you describe your problem I can see that your laptop ask for password just in the begining, in black screen so you need a bios password. That's diferent from the password that sometimes windows ask to (usually user - password).
Well you have to open the case of the laptop and locate a small circle battery, this is the bios battery. Eject this battery and the laptop's battery and unplug the power cord. Try 2-3 times to power up the laptop (without batteries or power supply, just for the capasitors to discharge). Wait 5 minutes. After that plug in again the bios battery, the main battery and the power supply. Start up your laptop. Just before Windows logo comes up hit del (or F2) repeatly in order to get in to bios settings. Find the command "load bios default" and hit enter. Adjust the date and time and any other settings you wish (boot order e.t.c.). Save the changes and reboot. As you can see you are ready.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Hi,
When system boots press the key to get into BIOS. Usually it is 'Del' Key. Once you get into BIOS, if not asking a password, get into admin menu and set the password option disabled.
If asking for a password while you get in to BIOS and you dont know the password, the only option is to reset the BIOS.
To reset BIOS u've to remove the back cover and remove and re-insert the CMOS battery while the laptop is powered off. After that, power on the laptop and set the bios to normal setting, especially the time. This wont harm any of your data.
Please come back and vote for me if this finds helpful for you. Thnx

My toshiba sattelite pro laptop wont come on as normal

The BIOS password is removed by the BIOS configuration, you need the BIOS password to get into the BIOS configuration. But if you do not have the BIOS password then you need to construct this dongle device.
TOSHIBA BIOS PASSWORD DONGLE
You can build a dongle that plugs into the printer port.Purchase a 25 pin male D sub connector and solder insulated wires to the various pins as listed below. The pins are numbered on the connector
http://www.tilman.de/sonstiges/toshiba/dongle1.jpg this is a picture of the finished dongle

Wire the pins as follows :-1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15
Plug the finished dongle in the printer port and power up the laptop. The password will be reset, go into the BIOS configuration to check the BIOS password, you may have to disable the BIOS password.

OK, here is my guide to Remove Acer Bios password computer via Software. This has been done on testing machine Laptop Acer Aspire 3620/ Travel Mate 2420. Anyway, I'm not sure it will work on every Acer PC/Laptop so just consider to do at your own risk, I’m not responsible for any damages caused by this guide.

As we know most of Acer computer (Laptop & Desktop) allow us to setup BIOS in Microsoft Windows (9x/XP/Vista) environment. Great, this is the powerful that help us to remove the BIOS password cuz all we know if we enter Setup Utility at the boot time we have only three times of filling the password and if all wrong then the system will halt.
The program helps us to enter Acer BIOS setup in Microsoft Windows is “Acer eSettings Management” which comes with the CD when we buy Acer PC/Laptop. If you lost the CD then just come to Acer website to download the program.

Power-on password forgotten! How can the computer be started?

The Power on Password is set from the BIOS configuration. Ask that person who borrowed your Compaq for the password. Once you have this password, you can enter the BIOS configuration and remove/disable this password.
Depending how old you Compaq is, removing the BIOS battery and main battery for 15+ mins may remove this password and restore the BIOS to the factory default (insert both batteries again) and configure the BIOS Date and Time etc.
BUT if the the password is stored on an EEPROM chip then removing will not fix this problem. There are no backdoor passwords available.
