First, UNPLUG the unit from the wall please. Next, open the door, and on the inside top of the door area in the cabinet, you will see either 2 or 4 screws holding down the top of the dryer. Remove these screws, then lift the top off. Now, looking down inside the cabinet, you will see as screw on either side, towards the top that holds the front onto the cabinet. Remove these two screws, then fold the front down towards you, and lift slightly to remove the front from the slats at the bottom. Use caution, because more than likely you will still have wires attached going to the thermostats, door switch, etc. Also be sure when replacing the felt, you use a lot of caution around metal edges. These things are razor sharp, and will put a deep cut on you in less than a second. Let me know if you need further help or information. Thanks and Good Luck!!!!

There is a felt strip that came out of inside the dryer. it popped out from under the rim of the drum part. can i get a replacement part? it the dryer still okay to use?

Yes it is replaceable . Screws up into top from door opening 2 or 4. 2 screws into front from inside case into front . Lift up and out . Felt fits in groove around bottom of plastic frame and drum just rubs against it .

I have a rubbing sound coming from the gas dryer drum

The rubbing sound is probably due to worn or missing glides around the dryer opening that the drum rides on. These are usually mounted on a felt strip that is glued to the front panel of the dryer. Remove the front panel and you will see this strip. It is easy to replace and comes in a kit with the glue. Make sure you clean the area after removing the old strip so the glue will adhere properly. If this strip and glides are in good shape, I would look at the bearing or rollers at the back of the drum and check clearance around the drum for rubbing. Hope this will fix ya.

The dryer squeals (metallic sound) while drying clothes.

check wear pads around front of drum or rear depending on brand. Ge's are particularly prone to scraping sounds, but still one of my preferred brands. IF a ge, did it get any dents around the sides or back? The drum is close to the sides and a dent in right place will do it. Also the rear panel can push the drum forward rubbing in front.
Ge - wear strips in front, plastic bearing in rear center, replace both, inexpensive.
Whirlpool- felt pad and wear strip in front, felt seal in rear with roller support. check rear seal lube rollers
Maytag -roller in front and rear with front and rear felt seals. some designs have front drum support posts with wear pads. ck these.
Frigidaire (include some sold under GE name) rear bearing cup (plastic)-lube, front feltpad with wear plates if plates gone get new pad/wearplate asm.
Maytag and ge nomenclature tags are in rear .

Access the drum to replace felt

To access the drum two screws need to be removed from the inside of the door. The screws are on top of the opening and hold the top of the dryer closed. Then you simply lift the top and slide it to the left to remove it, thus revealing full access to the top of the drum. Then two screws (left and right) need to be removed in order to remove the entire front of the dryer. Once the front is removed the drum can also be removed but for the purpose of replacing the felt removal of the drum is not neccessary. It should be noted that the felt sits only around the bottom of the drum and covers just over half of the circumferance of the drum. The felt should be position in around the opening of the inside part of the door. When replacing the front cover the drum will fit snuggly up against the felt. Replace screws, top and door screws and walla...fixed!

Replace the felt on a ge dryer part #we9m30?

You need to buy new felt. There is an upper and a lower piece. The upper piece has 3 glides to support the drum. When you buy the parts, make sure you have the dryer part number and there are some pictures that will help.

Make sure you uplug the dryer. Flip up the top lid of the dryer by sliding a large flat nose screw driver under the front corners of the top. Remove the front panel by taking out two phillips screws. Also remove the power cable to the front controls so you can completely remove the front panel. Strip off the old felt and clean the surface as good as you can. Glue on the felt (you should get a tube of glue with the new felt). Let is dry a bit before you put everything back together. It is a pretty easy job.

GE DSXH436V1WW heavy duty large cloths get caught

This dryer doesn't have rollers at the front of the drum, it uses a felt rub strip between the drum and the front cover. You'll need to replace the rub strip. It's easy to do but you'll need to get the special high-temp adhesive.

NVLR333ETOWB HOTPOINT DRYER EATING CLOTHES

I have the same dryer doing the same thing. Open the door and take the two screws out and lift the top. Remove the two screws that hold the front on. Remove the front. On mine both the plastic parts that stay on the front when it is removed are cracked and needing replaced. I found over 20 buttons that the dryer had pulled off clothes stuck in the front door. I'm sure if it will be cost effective to buy both these parts or not.

Squeaky dryer drum...felt thing came off how to replace it?

Squeaking is cause by the drum bearing worn out and telling the tale. As it get thinner and thinner it begins to rub against the metal outer casing it is embellished in. To inspect it you must rmove tyhe front and get the drum out. Start by opening the the door and removing the screws holding down the top. Then raise the top and get the screws out thathold the front on. Use the rear acces panel(if applicable) to get the idler loose or access that idler from the front.e24a4b7.jpg

Felt belt hanging above dryer door

it sounds like the front drum seal, this is what the drum runs on and seals the surround for fluff ingress. if it is hanging down then it is damaged and will need replacing which will be a partial machine stripdown.
