Not reading cds

I have just received a brand new head unit from (nitro) a sister co. of alpine. my issue is that al other functions except the cd drive works. when i insert a cd the receiver says loading but aborts the disc and says error 6. then goes back to the am/fm mode. what does error 6 mean and has anyone heard of such an issue. the products were just shiped out from NY to OR. on fed-ex ground i am hoping the laser isnt damaged from the shipping process. what do yall think.

Yes, more likely due to vibration on shipping that cause optical eye damaged or miss alignment. Best thing to do is sent for repair if the unit is high dollars value.

You may want to try a different brand of blank cds. I had an alpine that would not play sony white label cds, but played most everything else.

What brand of bland cds are you using? Maybe you can try a different brand. I know Alpine has trouble reading some brands of blank cds, such as sony.

Hey I have a alpine cde-7826 receiver its not reading burt cd. But will play other cds thatytou buy in store.

Please check carefully the format the CD you burn. Your player should has at least same format or better to make it read the CDs.
For example standard dvd player will not able to read mpeg 4 CDs.

Comes up with disc error

cd cleaners usually cause more damage than good by scratching the eye that reads the cd. my recommendation is to try and find where your local alpine repair place is and bring it there.

It won't Start

Remove the head unit from the rack. you will find a fuse at the rear. I might have lown. Replace with a new fuse and place in the rack. Now it should be good to go.

CDs and Ipod wont play with Alpine CDA-9885

The Alpine has two tigger wires when it turns on. One is an AMP TURN ON wire (blue/white) and a PWR ANT wire (blue) and that wire only comes on when using the radio or an optional HD radio unit ... When it was installed/connected . someone hooked your amp turn on wires for your "full range amps" to the PWR ANT wire. And the sub amp trigger is either hooked correctly to the AMP TURN ON WIRE or somewhere else, it probably shouldn't be... Check it. Amp triggers should all be to the blue/white wire from your alpine. Warning: Alpine trigger wires, are very easy to mess up they supply a very limited amount of power.

Alpine cda7998 disc error

Try cleaning the lens first, if you can take the top off and are able to see the lens, using a cotton swab soaked in 91% alcohol wet the lens, don't rub it, then blow it off with computer duster. Or try a cd based lens cleaner (Radio Shack).
