First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

hmmm, the problem could be one of to things, either the ipod has frozen for a one of thing (like computers sometimes do) or your HD is going (or the wire is loose).

id first try and reset the ipod (hold down the play button untill it resests) if that doesnt work:
1) hold your ipod in your hand (the port/plug downwards)
2) hit it fairly hard onto a note pad or somthing, this will nock the HD lead back into the HD.
3) if this doesnt work your ipod's HD is broken.

Press the Menu and the Play pause button and hold til it reboots.
You dock is causing the problem..Don;t use it on there..Dock are way bad for the iPod.

push the middle button and the menu button at the same time and it will turn off the ipod. wait a minute and turn it back on as normal.
