Not knowing what OS you're running or what version of Nero you have, I'll make a few assumptions. If you're running Vista with Nero 7, Nero doesn't always "play nice" with Vista. It's a memory hog (all video editing programs are) but it tends to hang up a lot and for some reason, runs worse in Vista than in XP. (just my observation)
I've had to re-install Nero twice due to similar problems. (lack of drive recognition, burns ab-ending etc) . You've probably already uninstalled/reinstalled the burner so I would uninstall Nero and reinstall it. Best of luck and please post back with any questions.

Go to your burning program's web site (roxio-nero-sony) and find updated drivers for your burning program. Your computer, burner and driver must all talk to one another. Now you may also have to go to Pioneer and download any new drivers if there is a change between XP and Vista... Just because your 216 dvd is new to you..it may have been on the shelf for a time. Hope this does the trick for you, please leave rating, thank you kindly
Hopefully, these will help you to get the DVDs to run without having to shell out for them. I'm curious to see whether or not this helps with the C&C3, as it does seem very coincidental that this game should stop working at exactly the same time as your DVDs stop playing because your upgraded WMP no longer has the necessary codecs...
