Question about Marantz SR5001
Have SR5001 with both HDMI inputs assigned. 1 to Blu-Ray, 1 to DSS, Satellite DVR/box. Therefore I am trying to use component hookups for the video and a digital connection for the audio. I hooked up the component to the 1st component input on the back and the digital audio to the #1 digital audio input on the back. I then tried to go through the process of assigning the input. I went through the menu system and assigned "Aux1 to "comp 1" but nothing happened when I dialed up that input and tried to test the connection. Part of the problem is that the manual does not explain the settings for "dig" "HDMI" and "COMP". The "HDMI" choices in the Input menu are self-explanatory, there are 2 inputs so I can choose 1 or 2. I am confused, however, by the "DIG" and "COMP" Input setting choices. "DIG" seems to allow 1-5 plus F (which I assume to mean Front). But there is no explanation as to how to assign Audio vs Video. Furthermore, the manual (on-line as well) seems to think that the SR5001 has only 2 Comp inputs and 1 output when, in-fact, there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs.

SOURCE: Input signals Marantz SR4003
There are four digital connectors on the back of the unit: 2 optical and 2 coaxial. They are marked a s 1 2 3 4. 1 and 2 are optical, 3 and 4 - coaxial. Also you have front optical connector marked as F.
You can connect 5 digital sources to your receiver. For example, connect your DVD to input 2 (optical) by optical cable and connect your DSS to input 3 by coaxial cable. Assign DVD to digital 2 and DSS to digital 3 in input setup menu.

SOURCE: component input no HDMI output
The receiver can only output picture from one video output at a time...ei; component video and HDMI cannot operate simultaneously. Nor can it transfer a signal from a component input to an HDMI output or vice versa. The input and output connections must match.

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to
connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.
Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.
If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.
My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)
