Hello, If I understand your question correctly. You want to upgrade your current memory? The link below shows me what your PC desktop came with, (Installed Items). Specifications.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&docname=c00031041&dlc=en&product=93344&printable=yes&
You want to enter your bios & see just what ammount of memory is installed in your 5441 PC. This is how to get into your Bios. Not every PC has the same F key to enter the bios. Turn your monitor. Than start your PC. Watch your screen closly. It will display, Enter setup Press (F ? ) That is how you get into your bios menue. If your Pc did not display this or went by too fast to see than, Re-start the Pc & press the F2 key every two seconds & see if the Pc enters the bios. It could also be the F10 key or F12 Key or the F1 key. Re-try each till you enter your bios. I'll list another link that sell's memory for your 5441. Use the Specifications link above as a guide when picking the ammount of memory you may want.

2.6 volt ram

For the Compaq Presario SR1920NX?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3184154

Product information > Product specifications > Compaq Presario SR1920NX Desktop PC Product Specifications,

Memory:
PC3200
That is DDR Sdram, that operates at a maximum frequency rate of 400MegaHertz. (400MHz)

JEDEC voltage standards for DDR Sdram is 2.5 Volts,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM

(Specification standards
Read down )

JEDEC,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JEDEC

The motherboard, may not have SPD features. (Serial Presence Detect)
Do not know if the ram memory does, either.
SPD,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_presence_detect

Sometimes it takes turning the computer off, wait 1 minute, then turn it back on. Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 times of this.
If BIOS doesn't set the voltage up 1/10th of a volt, you may have to do it manually in your BIOS Setup (Utility)

Where did you get DDR Sdram that uses 2.6 Volts, and is it high-performance ram memory?
Post the manufacturer name of the ram memory, and it's manufacturer code, in a Comment.

[The normal factory default setting for the ram memory voltage, is 2.5 Volts. I would see if BIOS Setup will allow bumping the voltage up, before I would EVEN think of a BIOS upgrade ]

Compaq Presario 4410US Memory Upgrade Problem

Hi,

In some instances your PC may not be properly recognizing one or more memory modules. Because you've recently installed new memory, check to be sure it's properly seated in its socket and the module is compatible with your system.

If the module is properly secured and appears to be compatible with your system, remove the RAM and try cleaning the pins using rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Clean each socket on the motherboard, as well with a soft, clean, dry paintbrush and then blow the remaining dust out.

If problems persist, try changing the order of your memory modules. DIMM sockets on the motherboard are labeled (DIMM0, DIMM1, etc). You should always start installing memory in the lowest numbered socket available. In many cases, the BIOS will probe the memory module in DIMM0 and address all memory according to the specifications of the module in DIMM0. If you've installed faster memory in DIMM0, the system may not be able to communicate with slower modules in other slots. Placing a slower module in DIMM0 may fix your problems; however, the faster modules will then, of course, run at a slower speed).

Hope this helps.

Presario won't recognize second 256 RAM

Remove the original module, install just the new one and then start your computer. If it doesn't start, the memory you bought is bad. The system boards used in the Compaqs will auto-detect memory, and there are no jumpers or BIOS settings needed.

Memory upgrade

First step : Make sure the memory you purchased meets the following specifications

"168pin PC133 SDRAM DIMM" which should be easily accessible from wherever you bought it.

If not, then you can find memory here. that the company guarentee's will work with your system. Also - You want to make sure the memory that was in your system to begin with is identical to the memory you are sticking in it to get it to 512MB Systems that are this old with "PC133 SDRAM" are very picky about what kind of ram you stick in them. Make sure wherever you purchase your memory from, has a guarentee that it will work in the make/model of your computer.

Trying to upgrade RAM - won't boot after new RAM installed

Install the RAM on memory slot and Switch on your system and go to BIOS settings. There you can check whether your RAM is working properly or not. If it shows no memory installed then the RAM Chip may be damaged.
