Lost all power

A total dead set is usually not a major problem.

with set unplugged and rear cover removed follow the power cord to a plug in fuse in a holder.

Total dead usually means the problem right where the power cord connects to the power supply---this model has some black relays (up to three) that can stick open or closed.

Only simple things are the fuse and the relays---other than that it must be trouble shot to locate problem.

The strand in the fuse will if bad itself either be broken or blackened.

If fuse good you can tap on the relays while trying to turn set on---use wood handle and do not touch anything else in set at same time.

The fuse will have amperage marked on the metal ends and usually on the board where it plugs in. If bad do not replace with generic radio shack etc type fuse---most of these will be 3 to 5 amps rated.

Don't forget to examine the power cord to be sure not broken at either end also.

I replaced the STK chips and 3 fuses per the research I did on the convergence and blinking red light problem. Plugged all back in and had convergence issues and hor - vert was off so I tried to adjust...

Make sure you didn't bridge anything, knock anything off the deflection board you shouldn't have. All the resistor values on both sides of the STK match up, and most importantly Labeled all your plugs properly and placed them in the right spot, because if they are switched, you'll get a convergence issue. Make sure the fuses are still good too and that all the terminals that all the plugs go into have good solder joints.
Also, there is a voltage divider.
Make sure that none of the wires got loosened when you pulled this plug. (Particularly the ground wire) Let me know!

Won't switch on

yes it could be a fuse but moust of the time
the fuse is blowing because power suger/or bad flyback/hozoutput/or power supply whent bad. unplug the tv .take off the back and look for the fuse you see the power cord it by the powercord if the fuse is black it a hard blow.
if you can see thur it .it a sofe blow you can try to chang it.6.1amp fuse125v or it could be 250v fuse6.1amp and if the fuse blow agon you have a short powersupply

Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, Blown Fused F850+F852

Solved by resoldering some solder joints!!!!!!!
********
Toshiba Model 57H81 Rear Projection TV - Purchased 11-09-2001

Problem: Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, No Picture/Sound, Blown Fuses F850 + F852

Symptoms January, 2009:

  • Upon turning on set I got flashing red power light and nothing else.
  • Removing plug for one minute and plugging in results in:
    • Audible click, steady red power light for 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
    • Pushing power button results in steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light, no other set activity
  • Removing power cord for several hours and plugging back in made no change
    • Audible click, steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
  • Possible related note: Over past several months occasionally the entire screen would flicker momentarily and at other times be problem free for weeks.
  • Fuses F850 and F852 found blown

Repairs Made:
  • PD0074 DEF/CON Power Board
    • There are two main power supply capacitors in this set. They are C-809 and C-810. One their negative lead on the printed circuit board re-soldered leads and nearby contacts. I’m told that because the factory left out a printed circuit board eyelet, the connection will come loose over time. When I called Toshiba customer service they said there was a known solder joint problem causing blinking red light.
    • Replaced blown fuses F850 and F852.
      • I actually installed a fuse panel on the inside of the cabinet and routed the fuse connections here instead of ordering the special fuses and replacing them on the circuit board.
      • Had to use a 5 Amp SLO-BLOW for F850. Fast blow does not survive power up. Get the red blinking light.
      • Used a fast blow 2 Amp for F852.
  • PD0073 SIGNAL Board
    • Re-soldered Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps
    • Re-soldered adjacent pads that looks suspicious

Total Cost to Repair about $10
  • Twelve hours of my time over three days to research issue, disassemble set, make repairs, add fuse panel.
  • Already owned Service Manual and Circuit diagrams from a different 2004 repair.
  • Less than ten dollars at Radio Shack for fuses and fuse panel. Already had wires, etc.
  • Some solder. Already owned de-soldering tools, etc.
  • Visited both local authorized Toshiba factory service repair facilities. One said repair would have to include replacing Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps with ST392-180, and realigning set for a total of $500+ and it would be more if they had to order a power board. NO THANK YOU! Other shop said $65 for site visit and $30 to make an estimate that could be applied to repair.

Green flash came out of the back of sharp sx66nf8 tv when turned on. Now no power

Flashes out of hte back are never a good sign. A part has fried. Without seeing the insides, I can't see what occurred. Look for a blown fuse first. I suspect that changing the fuse will result in the new one blowing as well. You probably have a problem in the main power supply area. Try replacing the fuse first and turning on the set. Report here with anything that occurs. For example, standby light, blinking etc.

TV Won'T Turn On

A fuse is not your problem. this TV has a safty feture that when it senses a problem it cuts the power to prevent any fouther damage, when you un plug it the TV resets and it will turn on agian. I have the same TV Check the CRT light guns there are 3 of them. If one goes bad it will cause your problem.

Flashing Power Light

Toshiba rear projection with blinking LED =

1) Open micro fuse F850,851,etc....caused by

2) Bad solder connects....jumper wires 008,010,017,048,600
re-solder all and solder STK392-110 convergence amp pins.

3) Or consider replacing original IC's with improved version...
STK394-160 = Hitachi part # CZ 01341
