Question about Breadman TR900S Bread Maker
I have a new machine and 2 wholemeal disasters first appeared not to risen but was ok in side the other was eatable but very close texture
neither had darkish tops but sides were ok
Do you think it will help to use more yeast say half as much again? I did the recipe on page of the book N0 8 on menu no 3 black and c an I use lard in place of oil
I have used a mixer for ages but not yours with great sucess

Check the date on the yeast. Also, if you use flour with gluten, it helps.

Instead of more yeast, substitute 1 cup of white bread flour in place of the whole wheat flour. Whole wheat flour always makes a more dense loaf. Also, put a tent of aluminum foil over the loaf to radiate the heat back onto the top of the loaf to help brown it (as you would when baking a turkey).
