Question about Canon PowerShot A80 Digital Camera

Hello, I seem to have a prob with my camera, When camera is turnen on it all works fine, i try to take a picture but cannot see the view from the Lcd. When i have taken a picture, i can view it through the lcd and display all previous pics through the lcd, and on one setting the lcd works when you want to take a picture, but on all the other modes it doesn't. Any suggestions?? Hope it make sense

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A80 camera and ccd imager chip will be replaced to fix picture problem.

LCD screen doen't display the view


So camera doesn't give live view to take picture? and you can view old / stored  pictures OK, is it?
If yes, then it is problem of CCD imager in Canon A80 and this part needs to be replaced.
Canon will repair your A80 free of cost as per announced scheme of CCD imager support.

Vertical lines obscuring image


The matrix is dead. Probably because of an intensive light got into the lense while the camera was in night mode. It's dead. Nothing can be done.

If nothing else works, try using a usb card reader to get the pictures into the computer's hard drive.
A nice usb card reader is available in all electronics stores such as Best Buy, Walmart, RadioShack, and so on.

Regardless of setting, picture is extremly over-exposed


This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Although it's not showing on the LCD, recommend contacting Canon anyways (it can't hurt). Please check the following two links for more info:
