With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings.
I use this method to revert from HDMI 1080p to Composite 576p, without having to swap cables and change settings

My tv won't show what I'm doing on my PS3. I've

Did it work before? What has changed? Do other sources work on the tv such as DVD/Blu-ray player or cable/satellite tv? Believe it or not the type of HDMI cable matters. Look for an HDMI 1.4 cable.

What kind of tv do you have? Can it support 1080p which is the native output of the PS3? If your tv is set to receive 720p it might not work. Make sure it is in autodetect or AUTO. This matters a lot! Let me know which make/model tv you have and we'll troubleshoot further.

Dell 4201c won't connect to ps3

You might be better served to post this in the computer area as it seems like a mismatch of some sort exists---I have heard the dell issues before.

Brand New PS3 20gb. I did not read the instructions and had everything plugged in except the a/v cable. I thought the unit was off as I plugged in the RCA cables the tv surged and the cable tv did not...

Whenever you plug any input into the back of a TV while its on, the video side will surge and usually the higher you have the volume the more of a surge it will make. The PS3 console has a very good sound card and doesn't require the sound on the TV to be as high like when you are watching a TV show. Here is what you do: turn the TV off, red, white, and yellow composites to the coordinating inputs, then it doesn't matter if you have your TV on or off when you hook the other end to the back of PS3.

I have my ps3 plugged in and everything..it will turn on but when i go to the channel which its all plugged into..nothing shows up...its a new Ps3 that worked a month ago but now its not working...no...

The 2 things I can come up with is,
1st If you were running you PS3 in HD and now you are trying to switch to composite you have to change the setting from an HD TV because the PS3 won't do automatically like going from composite to HD.

2nd

SAFE MODE:

1. Place you finger on the on/off sensor leave it their untill you console turns off then take you finger off the sensor.

2. Place your finger back on the on/off sensor leave it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3. Once the safe mode screen comes on select the option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A PS3 system restore will delete all data except the OS. I recommend backing up your console onto a USB flash drive if possible.

When i hooked my ps3 to my friends hd tv it won't work on my tv it says no signal

with the ps3 off, hold down the power button and keep it held down no matter what. It should reset it to the standard format which should show up on the TV. Once you see something, go to display settings and change the settings to 720P,1080i/1080P,etc.

Ps3 powering up fine but no display no matter what setting tv is on. any suggestions?

  • Have your ps3 in standby mode (red light).
  • Now, press and hold the power button in the front down. Your ps3 will beep twice. Let it go almost exactly after you heard the second beep.
  • Wait 10-15 seconds. A display will show up, and just answer yes to all!

No video or sound

Well...I assume that you are using A/V at your house and HDMI at your friends house? The best way to fix it is to hold the power button down for 3-5 seconds and you will hear 1 beep then continue to hold until you hear 2 beeps. When you hear 2 beeps let off and this will take you to the restore menu and resets your video settings. The funny thing with a PS3 it will automatically pick up that you have an HDMI cable hooked up but not that you have an A/V cable. So when you hook up your AV cable it still boots in HDMI format and it has to be reset. Don't buy your cable yet it will do the same thing.

Thanks,
Ced

Cant get ps3 to work without being black and white

Make sure it`s switched to CBVS, You`ll probably find that the TV is switched to RGB or S Video or SVHS. Try scarts as well as the phono`s. Ian

PS3 start screen will not show up on my TV

I had this problem before. I messed with the settings on my PS3 and My TV until the settings matched. My PS3 would show the home until I loaded a game. I turned off then on my PS3 to get to the settings. My TV manual had the types of videos it supported so I went with the second to highest setting it supported and it worked. Hope this helps.

Hdmi channel not showing PS3 only sound

might be problem with PS3 rather than telly. Try another HDMI cable in case something wrong with yours. You can try and reset PS3 video output by holding power button down (when in standby mode) until it beeps, them use original cable and see if that shows up on your TV. If so reconnect HDMI cable Ps3 will detect it and change settings back to HDMI then see if the TV picks it up.
