Automatic shutdown and restart automatically

There is many things that can be wrong, but the 2 most obvious problems are:
1. Your system is getting too hot because of cooling fans not functioning properly / cooling fans dirty, or something like that. Most Intel systems proect itself from overheating by turning off.
2. There is some form of corruption in your windows operating system. By reinstalling Windows, the problem might be solved, but YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BACKUP before reinstalling indows, since the installation will format your hard disk causing you to lose all your data.
If you are not sure how to do this, call someone close by that can help like a computer shop.
If you have not got a backup of your work, you are in trouble. You will have to have the hard disk removed from your computer, and have someone install it in another computer in order to have any chance of saving your work.

Hope it helps

I tried to wipe my hard drive so I could reinstall windows earlier today, something I have done half a million times, but today unsuccessful. There is something blocking it. I have tried umpteen million...

Why not use the built in fdisk that comes with your windows installation disc?

When you get to the partitioning part of the install, remove your current partition, create a new one and format it.

Insert your recovery CD that came with the computer, reboot, and follow the prompts to make a new partition and reinstall Windows.

Want to wipe hard drive on dell dimension 8250

You don't need a recovery cd (or any other cd) to wipe the hard drive. Boot to a command prompt and type "format c:"

Reinstalling your operating system is the only time you need a recovery cd. If you have no way to reinstall your operating system, don't wipe the hard drive.

CANT BOOT FOR REINSTALLATION OF XP, IT SEZ "NTLDR" IS MISSING, ALSO MENTIONS SOMETHING ABOUT THE HARD DRIVE NOT WORKING

If you have the OS disks try a repair first. Run the OS disk and choose the repair option rather than reformatting. That usually fixes ntldr issues.

Need to reinstall window xp how and where do i start

Do it this way, go into bios and check "boot from disk" put your disk with Operating system in the drive, and restart, you will get some choices here you click on install, then it will ask you if you want to format, do a quick format, NTFS. it will format "wipe out " the old stuff, and begin reinstalling the new operating, dont try and save anything as you will just be dragging the ols problems along with you. Get your motherboard disks ready in case it asks for a raid driver or some Motherboard driver. and that is it , in around 45 minutes you will be done, you will need the serial numbers from your copy of windows. Have fun, when done just downlosd the updates, have fun Gym

Want to restore my computer back to factory settings and wipe my hard drive clean i am having to many problems wiht my computer i have a averatec 77100 series

Not sure which Windows version you have, ie. 98, XP, Vista...

Have you tried reinstalling or repairing Windows from your Windows installation CD?
Make you have the product key issued with CD otherwise you will not be able to reinstall.

Other options are:
Have you created a previous backup using a 3rd party backup software?
Have you created a startup disk?

You should conider any steps that enable you to reverse what you do.

If you have the system recovery disk that came with that pc, you should be able to completely reformat the entire drive, which would wipe all of the data and start fresh. Also, you can try following these instruction for lost Windows password:
