Hi Sam9,

According to the motherboard specification page at HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00297771&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=482528

the HP M7071 has an integrated Realtek RTL8101L network controller.
The driver for this NIC can be found at
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Langid=1&Level=5&PFid=6&PNid=6

You must download the version of the driver which is designed for the operating system (OS) which you are running on the M7071.

If you haven't changed the OS, Windows XP Media Center Edition should be the OS you are using and the "Auto installation program (support WinXP 64/Win98SE/WinME/Win2K/WinXP ver.681))(Submission ID: 1278018)" should be the driver you must download and install.

Hope you find this info helpful and thanks for using the FixYa service
Kind regards

You should install the drivers from this link:

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3333

Install the chipset driver first, the you install LAN driver and the appropriate Wireless LAN driver. You would probably find which wireless card you have by looking under your computer, there should be a sticker.

After formating my ibm thinkpad r50e i have installed all the drivers but the main problem is that in device manager it is not identifing the network controller thats why i am unable to connect to...

If you see the network controller with a X on a red background next to it, it's disabled. If this this is an exclamation mark on a yellow background, Windows can't find the correct driver for it. In this case you need to provide Windows with the correct driver on CD-ROM or a file downloaded preferably from the manufacturer website.

Internet not connecting?

May be your Ethernet Controller is not installed. To confirm this, go to "Control Panel", click "System" from there look out for "Device Manager", click it, check "Network Adapter" to confirm if your Ethernet controller is installed or not. You might also see "Others", in the "Device manager" where you will find only components of your Laptop that are not installed with a yellow exclamation mark.

If you have confirmed that your network adapter is not installed, then you wil have to install the drivers.

Please give me feedback.

Take care.
