Make sure your ground wire is connected. I know Serato does not work properly if your ground wire is connected.

Also, make sure your running the connection from the Line Out of the Serato box into the LINE IN on your mixer. You can use the Phono Input also, but I generally tell people to use the line input to avoid any issues. Regardless of which input you use, make sure that your Serato software is either set to LINE or PHONO, otherwise it wont run properly.

You check it by trying a regular vinyl record to see if it is the cartridge. Make sure you have the input on phono for vinyl and on aux if you are using serrato. If the turntables are older try cleaning the contacts on the tone arm where the cartridge goes. make sure it is grounded properly also. Try plugging the turntable that is not working in where the working one is to check the channel on the mixer.

HOW DO I CONNECT A KAOSS PAD MINI TO MY PIONEER DJM 500 MIXER

Try running it in your FX loop ( out of the mixer into the Kaos, out of the kaos back into the mixxer or out of the mixer into the kaos and out of the kaos into your amp.

One cdj and one turntable

This is possible, by connecting your turntable to the Line Input on the serato box. Then just connect both to your LINE INPUT on your mixer, and set the controls on your Serato Software to LINE INPUT - NOT Phono.

Hi gium

Sounds like we have reached that point where progressive crossover in technologies means that the usual cautions of earth continuity for the tone arm when using a phono preamp has gone the same way as phono preamps on home theatre.

Have you tried switching to the line level and set the mixer up for that level also. That may reduce any gain induced hum. However it sounds like an earth loop problem, where both decks will need to be earthed in the mixer. Check also that all the gear is running of the same power point. Different mains phases are sometimes available near each other, having any gear (power amps also) on a different phase will cause an earth loop problem.

Is the hum all the time independent of the volume levels, or change with levels adjustments and not at all when turned right down. Let me if changing to line levels helps. We can try some more things, like connecting a temp hookup wire earth to the RCA earth to mixer chassis. Cheers

This may seem too simple, but have you tried flipping through your channels on your mixer, or try connecting the wires differently.
