Dont try to do anything fancy as you might lock it permanently. Just take your bill as a proof and go to motorola showroom where you bought the phone and ask them to unlock it. They will unlock the phone for you. Also if you did not lock the phone yourself the phone manual will contain the default unlock code. Good luck! Eagle338.

Your phone’s four-digit lock/unlock code is originally set to 1234. The six-digit security code is originally set to 000000.
If you forget your unlock code: At the Enter Unlock Code prompt, try entering 1234 or the last four digits of your phone number. If that doesn’t work, press and enter your six-digit security code instead. .
Try code 1234 or 0000. If that does not work go the screen displaying,
Enter Unlock Code, press the Menu key, top center, at the Enter
Security Code screen enter 000000. If this code has not been changed
you should see the previous owners phone number. If this is so use it
to try and unlock the phone.
To change the lock code of your phone
Your phone's lock code is used to lock and unlock your phone.
The default lock code is 1234.
Use Menu 4-3-2-3 (Settings- Security settings-Access Codes - Change lock code) to change the lock code.
When the phone requires the lock code, it displays "Enter lock code:".
Enter the code, then press OK.
If you enter a wrong lock code five times in succession, your phone prompts you for the security code. Saving the unlocked phone number
Use Menu 4-3-2-2 (Settings - Security - Settings - Unlocked phone number)to save a number that may be called even when your phone is locked. You will be required to enter the lock code.
Calling the unlocked phone number.
Press the Up or Down arrow keys or or manually enter the number exactly as it is saved, then press Call.
Note: The More key will pause the automatic scrolling of the help text. Pressing the More key or the Up or Down arrow keys will toggle through the pages. The More key is only displayed when the help text is displayed.
According to the user guide which you can read at the link below, the factory-set USER lock code is 1234. The document also covers lost codes, saying, "If You Forget a Code, PIN, or Password Note: Your phone's 4-digit unlock code is originally set to 1234, and the 6-digit security code is originally set to 000000. Many service providers reset the unlock code to the last 4 digits of your phone number before you receive your phone. If you forget your unlock code, try entering 1234 or the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that does not work, do the following (and shows a graphic of doing...) when the unlock code is prompted , press the menu key, now you should see the security code prompt you can enter the default code which is 000000 but if that code has been change then take it to a mobile service center or professional technician and them use special software that would reset the codes back to the default.
