On my stove, there is a small button on the upper left corner of the oven door opening - to the left of the latch. We pushed it for a few seconds and the latch reversed. All is fine now.

Self cleaning range - door is locked, food inside, and self clean malfunction

Here are a couple of remedies that may work:
1. Disrupt the power to the stove for at least 5 minutes. If the clean cycle has been on to heat the oven at all, wait until you are certain it is completely cooled down. Patience is a virtue. There should be no lights on the panel. This resets the stove and stove errors the majority of times. I usually pull the plug at the rear of the stove. It gives me a chance to clean the floor while waiting. Re-power and determine if the if the clean cycle cancels. If not, go to 2.
2. Push the door in and press "Cancel". There is a push button switch (not visible when the door is closed) that is also a part of the self clean circuit. This switch may not be fully depressed. If it does not cancel, press the "Bake" button and press "Start". If it continues on the clean cycle, allow it to run for approx. 5 minutes and then enter "Cancel". If it does not cancel, retry the #1 waiting longer than 5 minutes and repeat #2 sequence.
3. The door can not be disassembled when it is locked closed. The lock mechanism is at the top of the door in the center and approx. 2" down.. The latch operates from left (open) to right (lock). It may be possible to get a slim jim type device to disengage the latch. A piece of scrap spring steel pallet banding may work for this You may have to depress the "Cancel" while doing this/. Hopefully, your range cooperates and you do not have to try 3.

Let us know if any of these work for you.

My oven is saying unlock door after self cleaning but the door is open

It's likely that the door switch has failed, or stuck in the depressed position from grease or your oven cleaner spray solution. To correct this problem, remove the door switch and inspect with a multimeter for continuity connection.

My oven door is locked. It is not cleaning. I have tried turning off the breaker. help i have a turkey to put in the oven. Is there a sequence of buttons I can push to unlock it?

Hello,

Here are some solution on how to unlock the door of your oven ans do self cleaning below.

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com
The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock. IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature).
hope this helps you out please rate this solution it helps get better results for our customers like you

Whirlpool self clean GGP84803 door won't lock when initialized. It is clicking and diplays locked but I can still open door?

If the lock will not engage and keeps locking and unlocking then turn the power off, slide the stove out to obtain access to its back. Remove the 3 screws from back cover and you will see the locking motor and a switch with a lever that rests on the locking rod. This lever has lost its firmness and does not engage the switch to tell the motor it is locked. Simply take a pair of pliers and bend the lever down to put more load on the lever. Now when the rod turns it will fully engage the switch which will tell the motor that the door is locked. Test your setting to make sure you have it adjusted right and then re-install your cover and push your stove back into position and enjoy your day. Takes 10 to 15 minutes and is cheaper than calling a service tech. Remember to turn the power off when working on the back of the stove through testing and such. No need to get hurt.

Door locked after cancelling self clean option

Open the door. In the upper left corner, press and hold the door switch (the one that controls the inside light). Start a self clean cycle and wait for lock motor to engage. When the lock stops moving it should be in the unlocked position. Press cancel to stop the self clean.

    Good luck!

Frigidaire self clean electric stove 'f9' message comes on when self cleaning

I had the same problem. All I had to do was clean around the door lock. A small bit of burnt food or something had gotten into the hole around the lock and prevented it from moving all the way into position. Took a tooth pick and 30 seconds of probing to clean it out. Works fine now.
